You will have to take your truck in at least one time for repair before 08 and that is when they will get you.
When i take it in, i specifically state NOT to do the recall...they put it on the ticket, and sign it. Get all of it in writing. Besides that, the way im putting miles on my truck, it will be out of warranty before 2008. When that happens, it goes to an independant shop with diesel techs.
If you live in California or one of the Northeastern states that follows California's stricter emissions codes, I believe this reflash or the previous one is NOT an option. It must be done or it is reported to the state DMV and you cannot register your vehicle until it is completed.
Has anyone experienced a loss of torque converter lockup, after the 05E15 flash, when in Tow/Haul and driving about 40-45MPH? My vehicle as delivered and for the first 30,000 miles (prior to 05E15) would be in 4th gear WITH the torque converter locked at 40-45MPH. After 05E15 the torque converter does not lock in 4th gear Tow/Haul unless doing heavy acceleration at 55+MPH. It does lockup in 5th gear as usual.
I tow a 11,500# trailer so am close to the GVCR (20,000#). And have depended on the lockup to keep heat caused by torque converter slippage down. The locked torque converter also improves downhill holdback. I will admit that I have not experienced any over heating issues to date.
Ford maintains this is an OK condition for the vehicle and will not affect long term durability. I DO NOT have this in writing. But Ford does have my issue in writing.
I am feeling like a lonely fish here as I have never heard anyone else describe this problem.
Had my recall done last week and so far, crossing my fingers, nothing noticeable has changed that I can tell. Too early yet to check for fuel mileage as I don't put that many miles on this time of year. More miles when camping season starts, only trip now is to the coffee shop and home again, it's good to be retired!!
I had the recall done on my '05 FX4 CC F250 and I have noticed a little more low end pep and it definatley idles smoother but maybe a little louder. My MPG seems to be the same after 1000 miles 15-16 city and 19-20 highway at 68-70 mph......
Thought I would add my 2cents worth concerning the recall. I had mine done yesterday! New EBP sensor and a reprogrammed computor, plus the sticker on the degas bottle along with the lowered antifreeze level. My dealer is a 45 min drive, I got one mpg more coming home after the flash, but who knows. It starts great, runs strong just like it did before the recall. I'm thinking it may feel a little stronger. I haven't towed with it yet to see if there is any change to the touque shift. 05 PSD LB CC (Nov 04 6.0)
I had the recall done 2 weeks ago and I think I will need to take it back in again. I have lost power and almost 2 MPG. I was getting 15 before and now only 13 on the last 2 tanks. The truck cranks and runs fine but the power loss is noticeable. Am I the only one who have had negative results from this recall?
No. I've posted earlier on this thread about my loss of torque converter lockup when in Tow/Haul and in 4th gear. My engine does run much better and I have no change in MPG, which range from 8-18MPG depending how, where, and when I am using the truck. No one else seems to be having issues, however. Ford's response to my situation is, "that is the way we want it to work now .. there is nothing wrong".
Ford response "that is how we want it to work now" That is not why I bought the truck! I bought the $50 grand truck because I liked how it was we when I bought it, not now, so give me my money back, since you took my truck away!
