No way man......I didnt want to have em get offended. Maybe it wouldnt be good enough......then I'd be bathing in tomato juice all day. That would so much ruin the end of an odd day. Although, I could start feeding the thing......sooner or later somebody is bound to get hosed......that would be good stuff.

Gotta love not having any relief coming in for you in the morning. Really makes my day, anyway!

Thankfully this facility limits the work day to 18 hours. Of coarse there is no limit to how many of them!

Maybe I should clear this up a bit. I work in a co-production plant. We produce steam to run the big chilller and other equipment all over campus, since we have boilers big enough to run turbines we also produce a small amount of electricity. I don't actually work in that part though, I control all that big equipment from my desk via computer systems. We also take all maintenance calls since we are a central hub of the physical plant, since we are 24 hours day we also take sick calls and we are the folks who get to wake people up to come out and fix stuff when needed. We also check out keys to outside contractors and monitor all fire alarm networks. The guy who called is a laborer foreman, my relief gets hereat 7 am, since it's a dayshift and double covered (through week DAYS) there would be someone here by 7:30. i would have the option of staying but I have to take my truck to the Ford Dealer, truck problem, and since everyone knows abot my quail release and is aware of the committment I need to focus towards that for a few weeks they know I won't be able to stay around. Any other day heck yeah I'll stay, time and a half at this rate I'll take it.
Do you fellers think we'll reach 500 posts by the end of our shift?

Not sure, but I joined this thread with only 4 posts to my name. This is ruining my "lurker" image.

Edit: I meant TODAY at 1840...I get so confused on midnight shifts.

Found and replied to hotmail...I guess messages from this site hit my junk mail folder. Like I said, I usually just lurk here. I mostly hang at TDS. I get put off by some of the "I don't drive yet, but have an opinion" people here sometimes.

So Pep, besides this site and your high tech research projects what else do you do to pass the time at work?

We can't pick up radio stations in our office so its streamaudio for me.

If I may butt in, I usually pass the time by google-ing a topic and reading till I'm bored of it: HDTV, aftermarket bumpers, and common errors in English were tonight's topics. Other than that, chasing maintenance issues associated with running a plant built in 1958 occupy my time.

Edit: Ha! I just made an error in noun verb aggreement. I should have paid more attention to my reading tonight.

Dont be so sure....I am the senior person.....look what I get.

I listen to StremAudio also...I'd say every few nights. Some nights, more like Sunday nights...I get some time to maybe watch a movie if I bring my laptop and a DVD.
Alot of times I pick a subject matter and read as much decent information as I can find. I spent three nights reading up on Hinduism. Actually became very interesting. Learned lots of stuff I didnt expect just from the interweaving of other stuff. Stuff stuff stuff.
Spend hours reading thru How Stuff Works, asking silly question on Ask Jeeves.
Sometimes its so busy....all I study is my coffee cup.
Lately........since Mike started this oh so amazing thread.......I've just been hanging out here waiting for something to happen.

Other forums, google ing a topic, news sites, hunting stuff, weather reports etc. Tonights topics on google have been Timber Rattlers, at Bass Pro it was reporting on my quail release, at tractorbynet I was a viewer tongiht. At Salukitalk.net I was posting to a friend of mine about the Murphysboro football program (or the pour excuse therof). Hey ranger you don't have a kid on the Massac football team do you. They play Murphy this Friday night at Murphy.

I'm also contemplating working on a maters degree. If you're a university employee you can take your courses free (buy your books and pay whatever fees may be charged).
