In all honesty for a beginner it sux big time, more so if you like being with people. In order to make money you need to keep those wheels moving. It is a great life for some and hell on wheels for others..
GOOD POINTS..
Travel, great pay (most companies if you keep moving),meet some of the greatest people all over the country, the feeling you are part of the greatest thing that keeps this country moving,.
BAD POINTS..
Weather, 4 wheelers, dispatchers,DOT,never in 1 place for long, breakdowns, not home much..
Like I said it is great for some and hell for others.. The best way to find out if its for you is to ride along for a week or so.. Any other questions? It will only be my point of view so take it as you will
When I was running OTR I was making around $800-$1000 a week after taxes. Now that I do the local hourly thing it dropped to around $600-$800.
Well I wouldnt know about fudging on the swindle sheets I never did it . To answer your question yes you can make it running 100% legal if you watch how much you spend while your out. What I did was stop at the grocery store and buy all my stuff there and I had a fridge, hot plate and a grill in my truck, so I didnt spend much money while out on the road
Sometimes I think it would be a pretty cool job to have... seeing all different parts of the country, meeting interesting people, chatting on the CB, being out on your own...
Then I think of being away from my family, or just getting bored or tired.
I was going to ask you if your RV set pressure had been checked recently. What kind of pressure you runnin there? Have never worked with boilers.
Running at 10Mpa boiler pressure. Psv's get sent out once a year for testing. Running 3- 150mm btu/hr steam generators for injecting into wells and producing the black gold.
What do you think of marker lights on big rigs? I think they look so darn cool with a TON of marker lights all over them... plus they make them VERY visible. Maybe even something like this: http://www.runninglites.com
