Patience with other people - no problem. Patience with myself - not so much. I'm learning to accept what is without looking back at what was but it's not easy sometimes.

My plan for the driveway is to try and spend a few hours every weekend cutting it back a couple of feet from the sides. The hedge trimmer slash job was just to buy me time to make progress on the bigger plan.

We did find a few treasures on our outing yesterday. While at the Habitat for Humanity store my wife found a hanging light fixture for the stairway that matches the theme of the new light fixtures. Since that fixture is way up there, I'm going to have to hire someone to install it later this summer. At the same store, I found an old Craftsman bench-top router table complete with router. It's old, but mostly complete so it's just a matter of cleaning it up and testing it out. At our last stop, I found a Craftsman 1/2" cordless drill with 2 batteries and charger for less than the cost of the batteries. Since it's the same battery platform of several other tools I have, it followed me home.

Well I made more headway on the pool shed. I got the one side of the LED indirect lighting completly done/installed. So now the other side will be easy peasy. I am going to work tomorrow for at least 5 hrs.

Mike your adventure sounds like my 79 F150 road trip to Grapevine Tx via Missouri to Arkansas a very long time ago. Driving a 2wd truck up on to a bottle jack, at night, along a busy highway is not fun and can take a few tries to get it stopped on top. Note to self... driving a fresh wrecked truck with a trashed front end, a few hundred miles can eat tires up as you drive like crazy.....

Alwasy check the weather (where you are going) and pack a coat.

Morning all. I hope you all had a good Mother's day.
My son's mother in law hosted a lunch. That didn't get us out of cooking though.
My truck didn't want to start on Saturday, then Sunday it did. That's driving me crazy.

Off to work and the daily grind.

Morning all,
Atch I'm sure you and Joe could spin some story's about traveling to meets/shows. If I recall the fellow I bought my Brake and Frontend Alignment business from told me traveling almost anywhere in a Model A you learned quickly how to patch/replace tires. Of course he was talking about non-improved roads when he was traveling. I assume the replacement tires now are much better.
I bought a door lock jig at HD and spent most of the day changing door ***** and matching hinges yesterday. The jig worked all right but when you changed it from one side to the other on the door the cuts weren't perfect. Ended up splintering some small spots on a couple that'll need to be touched up.
Got an annual Dr check up today with the family physician but that shouldn't be much at all.
Still need to advance the timing and put the ole Y Block back together. But there's also grass to mow before I leave for Pigeon Forge.

If I had any memory left I could write a thousand page book about my travel adventures over the last 53 years since I bought Clarence. Alas...

All y'all goin' to Pigeon Forge post up some pix. Both of Ford trucks and scenery.

And say "hi" to my sister-in-law when you go through Sevierville.

Oh, yeah, survive the traffic.

If you're hungry when you go through Paducah wait another 20 minutes and eat at Patty' 1880 Settlement. Think of me while you're eating your 2" thick pork chop and home made bread.

I'm sure that you take Briley Parkway around Nashville and miss downtown. But if you do go through downtown get off of the superslab long enough to hit up the "Legendary Milkshake Bar" for a $15 milkshake.

Safe travels.

b-t-w; Sherry and I lived in Nashville for a couple of weeks a few years ago. She donated bone marrow for her brother at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was over the age that they usually allow donors but she was such a perfect match that they let her do it anyway.

fwiw; he never got to go back to work but now he's pretty much back to normal health. She's the oldest of the brood and he's the youngest. I think he's 66 now.

Is this your older truck? If so you might want to check to see if it has a mechanical advance mechanism in it. The last time I heard of a situation like that, the mechanical advance had broken free and would randomly throw the timing off enough it wouldn't start. Go back later and it would fire up because it slipped back the other direction. Sounds crazy, but a rebuilt distributor solved the problem.

Shoot, I'm pretty sure my distributer is vacuum advance, but now I'm not sure. I will check it out.

I'm off to the Cole County courthouse this morning. I'm on jury duty and they have a trial today. We will see what happens.

Morning all,
Decided to leave tomorrow and drive to Nashville and over night there. I want to get to the swap meet before everything is picked over. Like I need more parts.
Dealership says I'll get my truck back today so after our Guy's Lunch I'll go pick it up. Guess the trip to Pigeon Forge will be a great shake down run.
Lawn is mown so that should be sufficient until I get back Sunday.
Nothing done on the 56 so I guess it'll have to wait for my return.
Joe if your distributor is original it should ONLY be vacuum advance. They didn't start putting dual advance distributors until late 56-57.

Well I finally ponied up & bought wheels & tires for the skid loader, tired of having to do left handed backwards donuts to keep the rubber on the wheel. Might have to change them over up on the garage pad as I haven't wired up my dads big compressor in the shop yet. My older 60 gal is up in the garage, the batter impact managed to get 1 wheel changed so far but I didn't think ahead to charge the batt & I'm sure my big pneumatic impact will hit harder anyway...

You know you can run Military take off's on them 16.5 skid loader wheels, right? Yes not as tough a side wall as a normal skidder tire though.

Morning folks, grandson is done with 8th grade. Granddaughter graduates Carthage HS this thursday.

I am off to work, have a great day.
