Dave you have a front bucket right.... so move/knock down the gravel edge level with the road side. Then back in and brush hog to your hearts content. Or as you drive it along side the road way, use your turning brakes (you do have split brake pedals right?) and do a quick 90* brake turn to swing the brush hog into the egde of the brush.

We went up and played pool in the garage for a while, I had to back the Bronco out of the way. I need to get the pool shed done, so I get my garage back. Both the pool table and Bronco will fit, but not enough room in between to still play pool off the end.

More pool shed work tomorrow, indirect lighting installation.

Walked around the car show in Springfield this morning, some pretty nice stuff out there, only 1 Ford truck though & I figured Atch would've liked it, not that disliked it...
From there we went to the Rte 66 auto museum (super nice restored bronco there (..Rich..) but not a trail rig by any means).
Had lunch & then went to Grizzlies wood working/ equipment store and then an antique store.

Springfield seems like a pretty decent place, I think I'll come back & bring the wife sometime.

I seen that EB in there, and yes very beautiful red-white paint scheme for sure. Shame that place is closing it doors.

The Route 66 Car Museum in Springfield, Missouri, located at 1634 W. College St., is scheduled to close in spring 2027 due to the owner's retirement. The collection, featuring roughly 70 classic and celebrity cars, will be auctioned off by Mecum Auctions in early 2027.

I am happy that the owner Guy Mace is getting to retire, leading to the closure of the attraction that opened in 2016. For any one that has not been to it, you ought to go before it is too late. https://66carmuseum.com/

Jeremy you and her are more than welcome to come up and hang out.

Productive day yesterday. Fixed an electrical issue on a Chevy truck, pulled a wheel off the tractor to get a tire tubed and cut some fence posts to use for a pen I need to build. Good weather for it too.

Cutting brakes are only available if you have a manual transmission on the CK series and I have a HST so I just have a single brake pedal. The edge isn’t the problem, its the drop off that causes problems. My driveway was backfilled and raised above the grade of the land when the house was built so there’s some pretty good drop offs just depending where you are. Ideally, I’d like to get it pushed back far enough I can just run the brush hog down each side of the drive, but it’s a long way from that point.

I overdid it yesterday and am paying for it this morning - no surprise there as I’m still trying to figure out just what my limits are these days. I’ve got to go to Springfield tonight for work so I doubt I get much done outside today.

Morning all,
I decided that yesterday was the day to find my darned degreeing wheel. Of course after hours of digging thru boxes and looking under EVERYTHING in both the house garage and the shop, it was right in front of me all along. I didn't remember it coming in a neat little case so I was looking for something flat. The case was sitting no more than 5' from the front of the truck all this time.
After FINALLY finding it I realized it was my SIL's birthday. So I got cleaned up and we went out for steaks. Didn't get back home until after 10PM.
Dave2 Found 58% glyphosate at Rural King so I bought 2 1/2 gallons. Were supposed to get rain for the next few days but once the rain is done I'll apply it.
I'm not feeling super energetic today so I'm not sure if I'll start back on the 56 today or not. It's finally up to 60° but I'm just not feeling the truck love today.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

The productivity continues around these parts. The wife and kids got the house all cleaned up. I got the mowing and weed whacking done. Then we loaded up and sold a goat.

Got checked into the hotel and spent a little time in the hot tub hoping to get the kinks out of my back. So far it seems to have helped. Now I'm just trying to chill out and hopefully get some sleep.

I totally took the day off of "work" and mostly relaxed with some other company that ran up for a day visit. We also played a lot of pool in the garage. I am back to real work tomorrow.

Good morning youins, back to the work thing. I spent yesterday doing lawn work, weedeated some of it, tried out my new to me Stihl backpack leaf blower, note to self, the little lever on the handle that says stop with an arrow down, also allows you to throttle the machine if you move it mid way of its travel, I got to look like a monkey propagating the species with a footsball putting the backpack on the first time. My body feels it today. For a selective weed killer, 2,4D is great! On any of the weed and plant killers, I learned the hard way not to use granules inside the drip line of trees. I haven't been brazen enough to try the sprays in those areas, even though my theory says it won't affect the trees since it is diluted herbicide.
Have a great day all!

Chip as far as putting on one of them (espicially if it is a heavy version). Set it on a work bench/tail gate or some thing that matches your lower back height or is higher. Worse case set on a chair facing backwards. Set on the chair (backwards) if you can not squat from knee or back issues or do not have a tall work bench. And use that to hold you in place easily, to get the unit strapped on.

Just like a book back pack, ruck sack, one strap, two strap, cross/chest strap. Adjust shoulder straps to hold the blower up higher. USE the waist strap to hold the weight up off you lower back. Set it to distribuite the weight across your hips if possible. You do not want the weight on your lower back.

If you do stumble or fall, tuck and roll-tuck and roll, do NOT out your arms out to catch yourself. Ask BJ about that move.

"To fall without injuring your arms, avoid the instinct to break your fall with outstretched hands, which causes wrist/shoulder fractures. Instead, stay loose, bend your elbows, tuck your chin, and attempt to land on fleshy, muscular areas like your thighs, buttocks, or upper back while rolling with the impact."

I use to weigh 140 lbs when in the Army, I use to carry a 60 to 80 lb ruck sack. I know how to fall gracefully, like bambi on a frozen pond. Lol

Afternoon all,
I've been trying to figure out the ole Y Block. With the frontend off I tried to figure out what's up. With the #1 piston at TDC AND the timing dots set according to manufacturer's specs the exhaust and intake valves are both open, exhaust finishing closing and the intake just opening AKA overlap. If I put the the piston at TDC with the valves closed, ie top of compression stroke, the timing mark on the cam is way off. The cam and crank are keyed so you really can't install them in a different position. According to what I've read the engine shouldn't even try to run like this. But, it did, not well, very low vacuum and wouldn't idle under 1,000 RPM, but it did start and run.
So that's been my day. I was going to advance the can 4° but I am kinda confused???
