I'm guessing you replaced the crank and cam gear. I am wondering if the new gears have the marks wrong. If you have the old ones, and haven't, I would compare the marks with the old ones in relation to the cut slots and marks.I would also check the cam if you have the old one and old crank to confirm the slots are the in the same place. As your well aware what your doing isn't rocket science and sounds like your doing everything right. So I would look for a mechanical issue with something not being correctly machined or manufactured. Just a old persons thoughts.
Good luck

Got my stitches out on Friday. Woke up Saturday to one of the incisions had opened up. Saw the surgeon this morning and he did his job of assuring me this will heal on it's own. I'm sure it will delay recovery only a couple of days ( you did catch the sarcasm? ). Started therapy, but had to stop. I could not get my little finger to move from open to close. Have to get the hand to heal more before resuming therapy. Going to MI with a gaping wound in my hand was not the plan, hope it works out.
Wifey and the daughter are going wedding dress shopping this weekend. I will be swapping hand stories with the sil to be. He broke his wrist on a kick start on a bike. Used it with his hand and it kicked back on him.he has a big triangle shaped plate and other hardware in there. Should be in Macinac by Tuesday.

Had a buddy check his Y Block. The timing marks are not on TDC when the spark plug fires. They're aligned on the other TDC during over lap. Who'd have thought? Guess that's why people don't like building Y Blocks...

Evening folks, worked 8 hrs today and was busy busy, probably working 8 more tomorrow a then only 4 on wed. Thursday I am taking Penny to a doc appt in Spg and then probably take fri off.

Dang O&S be careful, with that open incisions.

Bj if I know any thing about it I would try and make a suggestion. But Larryb346's suggestion sounds like a solid one to research and or confirm.

God morning all. Rich, thanks for the advice, once my ignorant self learned the throttle lock operation, it was much easier to put on while running. I will be putting it on a raised surface to put it on.
BJ, I wish I had some knowledge of them, maybe RC can offer some advice. My assumption is if top dead center on one cycle is exhaust closing, intake opening, the next top dead center would be firing position, regardless of can and crank sprocket position.
O&S, duct tape and paper towel to seal it up? Maybe some super glue? Best of luck on not opening it up while living normal life.
Have a great day youins!

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone.

My father died 7 years ago today. If he were still alive he would have turned 100 last month. Any of you who still have living parents I implore you to spend as much time with them as is possible. When they are gone you'll wish you had spent even more time with them. Mom died in 2012 and there are a gazillion things I would like to tell or ask her. The most important thing is that I would apologize for being such an ******* of a son. Don't be me.

Hey; I see that the word I originally typed in was automatically changed to *******.

You can fill in the blank yourselves. Just know that I wasn't a particularly good son to her when I was young enough to be living with Mom and Dad. If she had been a violent person I probably would not have survived long enough to graduate high school.

Morning all,
Atch, My Mother and Father divorced and my Dad, in the Air Force, was in Minot, North Dakota and Mom, my brother and I stayed in Starkville, Mississippi. I really didn't understand the divorce and was NOT happy with my Mom. So, i was a perfect ***** to her. I was lucky enough in her old age to be able to take care of her for about 5 years before she passed. I too wish things would have been different but we never spoke of my adolescence. For many years if you would have asked my Mom what my future would be there's no doubt she would have said "Jail". I can only believe it was Devine intervention that kept that from becoming reality.

As far as the Y Block, I guess all the worry was for Not. I would have thought the alignment of the timing dots would have indicated TDC compression stroke. A bit of useless information on Y Blocks you'll never use: the timing dots on a Y Block don't align but are both at the 3 O'Clock position (facing the front of the engine) with 12 pins between them.

Had to do labs this morning and luckily after that the rain stopped so I got a Dog walk in before coming home. Guess I'll get back to work on the Y Block.

I lost my mom suddenly on 5/10/21. She died before I made it to the hospital to say goodbye. My dad died 2/05/2010, two days before my birthday.

Yes we are all still here, just busy busy as always. I hit pool shed progress stall, with work and then alot of up comming grandkid events. The grandson starts his baseball tournement in Marionville tomorrow. Penny doc appt in Spg thur. Step niece graduates fri. Sat some other deal in Carthage or Joplin....

My Father passed in 2006, I had just retired from the Army and came home. He was in a long term respiratory care facility in Mt Vernon. He went there in 2005 to recovery from Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). So I got to be there alot and I even got spend time with him the night before he passed. That is the place where I met Penny way back in 2005.

My mom passed in Feb 2021, I was in Afghanistan working at the time. But I got to see her alot when home on R&R leave and before I left and talked to her right before she passed. Miss them both terribly.

Dan sorry that you did not get to say good buy, but you know she knew/knows how much you loved here. Some time life just does not let things work out like we hope they do.

Morning all,
Yes Atch, we're still kicking the can down the road.
I just couldn't believe the timing dots are "In Time" on the overlap stroke. So yesterday I watched a ton of U Tubes and they've convinced me. This engine makes me question my mechanical abilities. I've built much more complicated engine like the old V-12 air cooled, quad magneto M-60 engines, or several different diesel engines and even the multi fuel engines in the old Duce n a half. This relatively simple engine (a Y Block) is definitely throwing me curve after curve.
I rained all day yesterday but my rain gauge is only showing about an inch total. Just enough to make the grass go crazy and to wet to do anything about it.
Get ready boys and girls; the older you get, the more close friends, family and acquaintances you're gonna see pass on. Moral, try to treat everyone with respect and it's never too late to tell folks how much you appreciate them. Costs nothing but pays Huge dividends.

Well the grandsons baseball tournament was awesome, they were down 2 to 5 and came back in the last 15 min to beat'm. The grand son was the 2nd up pitcher and they needed a 3 up, 3 out to get back to bat. He struck out all 3, bam bam bam. Then with their last turn to bat in OT, he was the one to hit in the winning runner.

Now thay are playing another one, either way they are 1st ot 2nd place. Then we ran all over Spg and Ozark on FB MP runs for a few "needed" items. And back to Spg in the AM for Penny's doc appt.
