I play with both 4.9' I-6's and 3.8/4.2L ford V6's. There ARE a few 4.2L's running around in mustangs making 230-250rwhp and 250-280rwtq, not bad for a Naturally asperated V6.
I'm working on a 4.4L stroker for my Thunderbird which has a vortech supercharger on it. I'm boring a 3.8L .030 over, using an offset ground 4.2L truck crank, 300-6 rods!, and custom pistons for a 269CID V6 and adding 12psi boost to it from the vortech. My car currently makes 270rwhp 300rwtq with 8psi from the vortech on the 3.8L
that is cool maybe i could still do that but i gotta call the machine shop and see what i need and how much it cost if they have any parts. then i could use my old 3.8 block and build this thing with fully ported heads and intakes.
yeah it is very nice but it also has a nice price tag.it would be cool to have a stroker 6 though to reduce some weight and then i could proudly have a 3.8 fender emblem glued to the car. no i have the 5.0 emblems off of the tbird on there and all the v8 camaros and stangs try to rev there motors up and race me. someday i will take them up on that race.
i now have more pics. while i was taking the pics i noticed that the motor i built is a roller cam ready block. i don't know how i missed that before. the 2 tapped holes are there.hmmm maybe i can make a full roller enginge and really make some power. now i am about to load the new pics to my yahoo and i will show you. do you have yahoo messenger. that would make it all very easy.
I don't know if I have yahoo messenger or not, I have a yahoo e-mail address as you know, so I probably do, sorry I am not computer literate.
I suppose that engine is the infamous 302 with the mystery performance cam, , would you happen to know what intake gasket (part number) you used?
Man that mustang is nice and shiny! Nice car.
So the 302 is roller compatible, that would give you a few more hp to work with.
Yeah that first link I gave you was, cough, a bit expensive, still nice to know the potential available with those smaller v6 motors, I am impressed to say the least. Later
i don't know the #'s but i will post latertoday when i go outside. thanks for the complement. you have to download yahoo messenger to have it.if you do you should have a icon that has a red Y with a yellow smiley face covering the bottom of the Y. go to yahoo.com and find where it says yahoo messenger and download it. it's free and fun.
OH MY GOD dude listen to this new idea. i found a mustang 5.0 rolling chassis in town and it has a 3 inch steel cowl induction lift off hood aa well as the older saleen rear spoiler you know the bigger one. it is a coupe and the interior is really nice. it had a 5.0 five speed in it at one time. it has 3 inch exhaust on it including the tailpipes out the back and the rims are nice racing wheels and good tires. i have not talked to the guy yet since they were not home and i did not have a pen so i will go back and leave my number and contacting info. this stang is around a 90 or 92. and would be great for my 302. i will try to get it if it has a clear title. i want to trade either my old mustang or the toyota car that we used to drive.
ok it is a done deal. the guy went to take the car for a drive and he liked it but i forgot to see the title which he said it is ready for me to sign it and get it in my name. he said it is an 89 and it used to run the dragstrips. it has a 4:11 posi rear end and it also has the frame beefed up. the hood is a fiberglass lift off hood and is worth over 600 dollars. the interior is all custom and looks very wicked. it has the saleen spoiler on the back and tinted windows. it had an auto. but since it was a dragcar i am not sure which tranny it had i doubt they used the aod for racing but they could have. i also forgot to ask if they kept a small block for racing so i don't have to figure out the motor mounts i will put the pics of it in the gallery
yeah i have another aod out of an old truck but i am not sure if this car was modded to fit some other tranny. possibly a c4/c5 was in there. the guy said that those rims and tires are not his so they don't go with it which sort of sucks but they still are gonna put the stock rims back on. i am going to trade an 85 toyota camry for it. i believe the car is already setup for a carbed motor so i will not have to work on the fuel tank and stuff. maybe the ignition is wired to duraspark.
