oh yeah it has been fixed and they also tore it up. now i need another motor. i brought it home yesterday because they were saying the oil pump went bad all of a sudden. so i drained the new oil that they said they put in it and it only had 2 1/2 quarts of oil in it as opposed to 5. and the oil filter was the old gas smelling one. and it also had cotton like clumps coming out of it. so i put a new oil pump on since it was on the outside of the engine and i wic oil filter with 5 quarts of oil. i cranked it without the coilpack plug to push some oil into the passageways. then i cranked it up with no luck. my lifters were ticking and who knows what else is screwed. who knows how long they ran it before they noticed a problem. i checked on them while the intake was off and they had a bathroom towel covering everything in the lifter valley. i'm thinking they left it in there and let the balancing shaft tear it up. so now i have clogged oil screens and screwed bearing and stuff like that probably. so once again i have no ride of my own and my stuff is screwed again. can you say law suit.
the other one is now at the shop i have to pick it up still but i still don't know what happened to that one. the it is almost bare except for the cam and front cover so it has to be the cam that was knocking or something. right now i am taking the intake off and going to look if there is a surprise for me under there. it is on the trailer now when i find something i am driving straight to the shop and confront them. you know it would have been a lot cheaper to drop the v8 in here. 500 dollars for the new motor, 170 for clutch kit 375 for broken bolt at shop.and all that other crap. all i needed for the v8 was flywheel clutch motor mounts and radiator which i have. and a little wiring for the ignition but this just blows i wanna beat the hell out of that hippy
ok i got the intake off and sure enough there was that towel wrapped around the balancer shaft. it was a mess oh my it was nasty. anyway i hauled it to the shop and the guy that i trust the one that did not work on the car was very surprised. he said he would do it himself and flush it out and get it going like new.
Was the person asleep when he/she put the motor back together? As long as they make it right, I don't guess you can complain, couldn't hurt to ask for a refund on your original receipt+towing, after all, its their fault your without a driveable vehicle. See you shoulda went with the v8. haha, just kidding. Well again, good luck, hopefully the next time you will have a better experience driving the vehicle home. later
well yeah i should have put one in but you know i think instead of using my 302 i am just gonna have to wait until i get the money and build me a 351. it will fit right in also.
Sounds like a plan. Then again you could substitute some cubic inches with rpm and make a nice 302, being its a fairly light vehicle compared to a truck. You could always lighten it some more. Might as well go big if you go with the 351, think 408/418/427. Should I mention that PAW performance sells a complete stroked 351w to 427 longblock kit unassembled for $2995. Hmmm, makes a person think huh? So when do you start diesel mechanic school, next fall? later
hey you think i should build me a 351 and drop it in my stang when this new motor goes and i have the money. i would be putting an automatic tranny friendly cam even though i have a manual. but it would have a slighty lopey idle and of course have a carb and a high rise intake. hopefully i will have the money for some edelbrock heads or something of that sort. but i would also get headers and some ARP rod bolts. what do you think on that one. but one question. what kind of manual tranny would hold up to that torque. do tranny shops hop up manual trannies too to hold up to at least 400 ft pds. i'd be tearing people up on the roads
I think the tremec 3550 is popular with the mustang crowd. I do believe your right, I think they can rebuild your tranny to hold more hp and tq, I have read articles on that topic before, otherwise I know little to nothing about transmissions. Call your machinist or a local speed shop and see who they might recommend or who rebuilds their trannies, give that person a call and see what they can do for you. If it were me I would use a c6 for strength and consistency, plus a lot cheaper to rebuild/replace. Then again there is nothing like driving a stick shift. Any reason you want a 351w now? Sounds like an interesting project though.
