Nice port work f100guy, what did you use to port the heads? So have you about gotten the piston fixed? That port work should help out some. Lemme know if it makes a difference, if you had a slipping clutch, it might be hard to tell what did what, by changing them both at the same time.

I became inspired and tried a little port work on an exhaust manifold I had laying around. I used a dremel, the sanding roll really smoothed the port, with a little wd-40 sprayed in the port. Lemme know what you used. later

you know those pink looking cylindrical looking rocks. that is what i used. it works good on aluminum and wd 40 but had to be cleaned ever now and then so i took it to the beck grinder and lightly put it to the grinding wheel and let it spin off. i use an air tool to port it my aluminum heads. yeah i guess i did not post. i got a 2000 model motor from a wrecked car. and just finally got it in today but still am working with the dipstick, headers, wiring and clutch cable. tomorrow it should be done but who knows. the old motor had all new felpro gaskets with like maybe 2 weeks of use so i believe it was a crappy rebuild. it was very clean inside and all but i did not find any bearings or shavings in the pan. all rods were tight and the crank was also tight. i have not taken the old heads off yet but i have a feeling it is in there.

3.8 and it is in there now finally but first i broke a bolt in the thermo housing part in the intake so i had to switch intakes and then i accidentaly broke a lower intake bolt off in the head. i was so mad but i am not going to do anything about it and hope it seals fine. it is in between 2 other bolts and has a gasket and sealer on it but i don't think it will leak. no i have to tighten the starter and put the shifter and driveshaft on. and also figure out why the starter did not turn when i hit the key. i guess the wire came off the tranny or something.

Well sounds like your having some ups and downs, as far as luck.

Man that is the worst feeling in the world, when a bolt breaks off in the block. Well good luck and sounds like you are almost done, bet you can't wait to see how it runs, as compared to before. later

well it runs but rough at idle and hesitates. the check engine light is on but as soon as you push the gas it hesitates and then revs it revs fine when it is already revved up. the motor came from a rolled over car. do you think the plugs are oil fouled.

Possible, pull them out and clean them, couldn't hurt and would only cost a little bit of time.

Looks like your gonna have to get a haynes manual on that thing to pull some codes.

Any vacuum leaks?

i got the codes ran and i got two codes. one was a misfire on #4 and the other was an o2 sensor on the pass. side header. could that be caused by an exhaust leak at the header and the pipe coupling. that is right after the o2 sensor. it is running really rich on that side and puffing smoke and smells very bad on that one side. my mileage sucks and somebody told me they saw a flame come out of that pipe. i have a new temp. sensor and a new o2 sensor to put in tomorrow after i tighten the exhaust pipe.

ok i am getting it fixed on monday and we will see what's up. i pulled number 3 plug and it was soaked but it would not light with a lighter. so that cylinder is also pulling water in it and the intake leak is making it run lean so the computer makes it dump more fuel. so that is the problem and that is the cylinder that the broken bolt is on. anyway i put my new system in and it sounds pretty good goo bass inside and some outside without a lot of crappy rattleing. and it looks good too.

the car is getting the bolt drilled and replaced as we speak i am actually gonna get in the dually an dgo check up on it in a few min. the 3 cylinder is sucking air and water. i am sure that is it. well i got a hell of a deal when i got the car it already had a kenwood motorized face cd player and boston accoustics speaker all the way around. i had a jvc mp3 player and my friend wanted it really bad but i bought it 2 years ago for 188. now it is 160. he traded me a brand new pioneer 180 watt 4 channel amp, new box for 2 12 inch subs and 2 new pioneer 12's. i have it hooked up right with the subs facing the back since that projects the sound forward and then all the wires are hidden. it looks and sound great. and i got a really good deal. what an idiot this guy was. oh well his loss is my gain see ya i also got a detatchable pioneer cd player from him to replace the one i traded and it works. tell me is that a deal or what
