I think I'm going 223 Wylde on this one but not sure yet depending on what I decide on barrel length. I have a 16 and 20 inch 556.now. I plan on hunting with the 20" this year. I'd like to do a shorter barrel but not sure if I want to go as short as pistol length as I'd like to keep a normal stock. Seems Iike I've read you can do 14.5 if you use a 1.5" flash hider. I don't need it, but I like to build them. Each one has been a little more custom than the last.
Yeah I used to use my card that way also but got to be a pain since I've had issues with it getting cloned or somehow used by crooks. Every time I've gone to Vegas something happens. SMH.
Just got the call the boat is ready. Great except now I gotta pay the bill.

Be very careful with the 14-1/2 inch plus flash suppressor. ATF doesn't like that unless certain permanent conditions are met. Prozanski and his ilk were coming after those but got cut in bargaining to get the Republicans back for a quorum. He and his buddies will be coming like a steam roller with a vengence and WOT in the 2025 Long Legislative Session.
“The ATF procedure for measuring barrel length is to measure from the closed bolt (or breech-face) to the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device. Permanent methods of attachment include full-fusion gas or electric steel-seam welding, high-temperature (1100°F) silver soldering, or blind pinning with the pin head welded over. Barrels are measured by inserting a dowel rod into the barrel until the rod stops against the bolt or breech-face. The rod is then marked at the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device, withdrawn from the barrel, and measured.”
I've deer hunted with the AR 15 quite a bit. My wife used an AR 15 for years, right up until she quit deer hunting. I generally used reloads with a 55 grain PSPBT Speer Bullet and a compressed powder load. For Varmints it was a 52 grain Speer PHPBT.
These days, I'm having a blast using one of my AR10's, mostly the S&W Law Enforcement model, which is what I shot a deer and a bear with last fall. I used the Ruger SR762 on the Coyote the other day.
Never had any problems with the Cabela's Club Card. When it was Worlds Foremost Bank, they stopped a couple of transactions that I made because they hadn't updated their fraud program to recognize local purchases and internet purchases. Bought gas in McMinnville one day. Bought computer parts that evening from a place in California. They blocked California. Had to call to get it released. Gal at Club Services said it was flagged and blocked because they couldn't fitgue out how I made two purchases a thousand miles apart in 6 hours. Welcome to the age of jet airplanes and the new fangled Internet!
I've never had a problem with it since Bass Pro bought Cabela's and switched it to a Capital One Master Card. Well, I do have a repeated problem with topping out the single purchase at fuel station. They had it restricted to $100. Hard to put 30 gallons of diesel in the pickup and 50+ gallons of gas in the boat and keep the bill to under 100.00. Finally got them to increase it to $150 and with the drop in fuel prices, I haven't run into that problem recently.
Better go get that boat before they change their mind. They want all of your hard earned money so they can take their boat on a fishing trip.
Thanks for the info on the barrel length Jim. I figured it was too good to be true. I guess I just need to decide what I want to do. I thought I wanted a pistol but the more I look into it, the fixed length butt stock that is too short or that goofy stub is not for me. Maybe I just build another 16" and in wylde with an 18" barrel. The more I read the Wylde seems to be the way to go.
Need to head to salem to pick up flooring. Drywall contractor is scheduled.
Boat is home. Thought about fishing and then did some scouting last night and the algae is already there is force so I missed the my entire springer season. Might run up the santiam tomorrow and poke around.

I got the irrigation pump pickup pipe into the pond yesterday, pump primed with only one small incident, and the rainbird system controller for it primed up and running. Flood and moveable system didn't get hooked up. The pipe cap is frozen and I have penetrating fluid on it. Not sure now if I'm going to hook that up this year. Don't really have a use for it at the moment.
Discovered that the snowplow hit one of the sprinkler heads by the back driveway. I think it busted it off of the feed pipe. if so, I'm going to have to dig it our and make some repairs before we leave Tuesday for Cottonwood Canyon and then on to the G2G at Don's place.
In addition to the shattered head and broken riser, I also found 2 more, where snow from the Pole Barn apron had been piled, that had the caps broken off. Hopefully I have all the parts I'm going to need.
It was after 2000 when I finished getting parts, too late to make it back home and work on the system tonight, so I took the Warden out to eat at the Olive Garden. Had a 20 minute wait for a table and it was well past dark before we were finished with dinner.
