We'll be bumming around the area. I've been to most of the places around here but it's been 25 years. Wife has never been. Yeah the skeeter are plentiful and large. I've never been here this early. Usually here in Aug so bugs are not so bad. It was either this week or not at all. i'd rather stay some of the other camps or boondock but not knowing conditions I didn't want to chance it. If I was in a truck camper I probably would tho but not with the trailer. quite a few folks up here right now. I don't think the loop road is open yet so we'll have to see if the gate is open but there is a lot snow still on the mountain. I just love this part of the state...
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 53.0 under clear skies.
Congrats on the award Brett.
And the POD is to finish loading, go to a picnic and beat feet for the mountain top. Elk were in the lower 4 acres eating and playing last night and the morning. Game cameras were going off most of the night. They brought at least two calves with them last night. Kend of hare viewing them on the night vision shots. Spindly legs and blurs as they tried them out running and darting around. One of the cows decided she was going to lay down right in front of one of the cameras. Every time she moved her head or wiggled and ear, the camera would go off.
Baby's will play! Having fun this morning. This is one of the bigger ones. A couple of others hadn't straightened their legs out yet This one isn't too big, but is bigger than the others on the night shots.
sure is nice out here. Surrounded by thunder storms but no direct hits yet.
Wide open spaces and few people. Drove up the mountain this morning but gate is still closed. Odot says open estimate is 6/30. I think it’s clear now so hoping it’s opened before we leave.
photos are from yesterday. Diamond craters and the round barn. Funny how things change after 25 years.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 57, clear & sunny.
Flirted with Murphy yesterday & the Warden was under the weather along & with the picnic & visiting & then a very long phone call from dear sister, we didn’t get away from Alpha HQ until around 1900. Stopped at Oak Knoll rest area and spent a couple of hours taking a nap.
Made it up the mountain arriving at Bravo HQ around 0230.
Looks like they have some siding off of the round barn Rich.
