I should say up to around that 60-80mph range which is about as fast as any stoplight races go! But I Know nobody would race from stop light to stop light through town, so its a moot point, lol.
Dale must not be talikin about the new 3v V-10s. I dont think a hemi would have achance against those. It wouldnt even be close. I dont think GM or Dodge has anything to compete with that in the HD class. Dont post this over in the V-10 forum guys will doubt that pretty quick. My friend has a V-10 an Id hate to race him hes pretty fast. Hes a pretty cocky guy an hed be glad to race you in his truck no matter what it is/ He even has a Calvin sticker doin his thing on hemi. Hes a Ford guy to the core an really thinks anything other then Ford is junk an slow. Those kind off guys you better watch out for. If he read that previous post hed shake his head. Bring it on. Hes a real nice guy otherwise. But get in to trucks an whos fast or not. Watch out. Thats the way he is.
the hemi will out run the v-10, too. i just sold my 04 dodge ram. it was very fast, but it liked being at the dealership more than my house! sold it at 28?K miles( i don't think it liked all the fords) to sum it up.... the dodge is faster than the f-150 or even a f-250 with the v-10. but the diesels kill it, or at least they did mine. if you want to go fast buy one, but get used to it living at the dealership. me i like having a truck i that costs that much at home, doing it's job. just my $.02
The v10 has been tested to be faster than even the Power Wagon by 4 Wheeler, and it has 4.56 gears. I doubt your hemi could've outrun it.
Where I was confused originally was what hemi powered truck was in question.
The bottom line is that with weight being equal I believe the V10 should win outright.
However, I also know for a fact that a regular cab 2WD 1/2 ton hemi will pretty much smoke a Crew Cab, V10, 4.30 Ford........it's happened to me twice now.
I've never run a hemi in the 3/4 ton and up trucks.
This thread is getting counter productive IMO.........It is very difficult to make up 2000+ pounds even if you have 50-70 pounds more torque at a lower RPM.
The diesel comment is a perfect example.........the V10's have been as quick empty as the higher torque diesels almost every year.
Slower revving and some extra weight is the reason.
I would even put money on the 1/2 ton pseudo-hemi against a reg cab v10........probably a 1000 pound weight difference there also.
I'll have to dig but the published reports I remember have the 1/2 ton hemi at least 2 seconds quicker 0-60 and in the 1/4 over a CC V10.

I'm a die hard Ford man, who has drank too many budweisers tonight, but I have a theory. The Hemi Ram (fake hemi), was intended with performence in mind. The V10 super duty was built for working. I have a bad feeling that the hemi will beat the F250 in a drag. I also agree with DOHC marouder. The few more ponys in the 250 doesnt make up for the weight, even thought it does have steeper 4.56 gears. I dont know, I think it would be a good race, but im not sure. I want to see time slips of a '04 and '05 v10 super duty, and the time slips of a hemi ram. Then all this rambling of this thread will be solved.
The torque is somewhat smoother than mine , and yes I have rode in his truck... Its a great truck. I agree my weight advantage did help me out.. His F-150 has the 3.73's with limited slip... Do I think the ( Hemi ) is all that ; not a chance it just works for me.. They normally dyno stock around 280 rwhp ... If you factor in 18-20% drivetrain loss its still slightly lower at around 336 flywheel horsepower. Personally if Ford could come out with a revamped 351 Cleveland I would be the first one in line, but with the 4v heads.. Wow now thats what I am talking about. It blows my mind how much the automakers can make as power is concerned ; when you take in effect all the segments of the market they have to appease... Noise pollution at idle, emissions, air intake noise and so foruth... p.s thanks for welcoming to your site... Its quite east to navigate through.. ..

Well the 01-04 V10s were quicker than the 7.3L diesels. The 6.0L diesel was a hair quicker than the 01-04 V10s and the 05 V10 is agian quicker than the 6.0L diesel. So if the diesels killed you the V10 will too. The sad part you just admitted to it in a round about way. Thank you as this is what I've been waiting for some one to say for some time now. JFYI the 6.0 is also the fastest stock diesel so even if it was a duramx or cummins that killed you the V10 is still faster than either of those.
My 03 5.4 is faster than a stock 7.3. I have tried it. I leave em at the line and never look back. This is a standard cave 4X4 V6 vs a CC shortbed.
Yes I believe the Cleveland was a awesome motor.. Was the Cleveland a canted valve head? My uncle had a 70 Boss 302 which is nothing more than a 302 with Cleveland heads and of course some internal tweeks. Man that thing could rev for being stock good grief... Another great Ford ( in my opinion) was the Boss 351 very under -rated at 330 hp, Yeah Right!!!! You dont pull mid 13's stock on a chassis that weighs around 3600-3800 pounds.; esp when 330 was the Gross rating and not the Net rating....
The last of the 351's here before the emissions made around 400hp net...
They were still advertised to have 300hp though.
When the 351C was last put in a vehicle here (1984 from memory) it was said to have 300hp.
I have a person I know that has one that has been dynoed at 550hp (net) - and no it wasn't stock (but it it is N/A and it doesn't use giggle gas).
The Cleveland is possibly my favorite Ford engine of all time, its ability to rev to almost 7000rpms, its sound - I could go on, but I am going off-topic...
if hemis are so fast how can my generation 1 L beat it. 345 hp vs 240 hmm doesnt make sense to me but i guess if u got a ford then u understand. i even drove a hemi ram its kinda fast but i mean it must not be if a gen 1 L can beat it and its over 11 years newer

Don't kidd yourself, a 1st gen lightning cant beat a Hemi Ram. I dont see a 240 horse f150 running a low 15 second quartermile.
