Yes only 200 or so hourse under my hood you haft to think the ram is a big truck the secound truck had 20" on it and loud pipes my truck only ways onder 4400 pounds it is not a fast truck but its quick look i dont have a lightning its just a good looking work truck Hay its a (302) so far with it no oil leaks same trans,no slippage. The first time i thought "lucky" but the secound these kids are right out of high school thay knew what was going on.

Not trying to add fuel to the fire, but I have a 03 Hemi 4x4 regular cab short bed set up It has factory 3.92's and Mickey Thompson F/C 2's in a 33x12.50x17. My only mods are MagnaFlow muffler, Aem cold air intake, Aem throttle body. Hypertech 3 . My co-worker at work has a 05 F-150 extended cab 4x4 with the FX-4 option package.. He kept goating me at work, telling me to watch out cause his peak torque comes in at a lower rpm than mine.. We finally lined them up on the highway around 60 and to 90 I would say I had him by about 4-5 truck lengths.. Yes your right I did have some mods and he only had a K&N filter, but my 33's take some of my power away.. Stock on my truck was 275-75-17's which right around 31-32 inch tire.. The Ford makes a great truck just dont think presesntly stock to stock they can de-thrown the Hemi or Semi- Hemi.. p.s Everybody talks about the Lighting .. Yes awesome truck .. with a super-charger... Several years ago I had a 99 Z-28 on the motor it ran 11.9 to 12.0's all day long, and on the giggle spray it dropped down to 10.55 at a 127 mph with a stock long block... I even had a stock cam, just a 3600 Vigilante conv, 3.73's, full lenghts, z-06 intake and other varios bolts ons... My point is it ran decent but many people cried foul when I did run the juice,even the 03 Cobra had a factory power adder.. No i am not a troll , just trying to shed some light thats all...
Shed some light on what? Besides the fact that superchargers allow more air flow, and are more efficient then huge HP N/A engines, there is no revelance to this thread. You cannot compare NOS to a s/c.
What gearing did the F-150 have? Your 5.7L 'hemi' was in a much lighter truck, with mods, and a 5 speed tranny. The Ford has a 3 speed, with an overdrive added on. Somewhere around 70 MPH, it's already shifted into overdrive, and accelerate much slower then your truck would at that point.
An F-150 against a Dodge 'hemi' isn't debateable, unless the F-150 came with a 5 speed, then we'd be able to talk. What is debateable, is the V10 against the 1500 'hemi' RAM. Any experience with that?
sorry chevyman but the hemi is not a name tag!. Hemi is short for hemisherical and in a dodge it relates to the combustion chambers being,,, well,,, hemispherical ( half an orange in shape ). they also didn't invent it in the sixties either, the design actually goes back to the early 20th century. I can't remember who first used it but it wasn't even dodge
also with regards to the half ton 05 models, I worked at a ford, dodge and nissan dealership not too long ago and although I couldn't race them I mean test drive them side by side ( only one pair of hands ) I did drive all three trucks in one afternoon, the 05 f150 5.4, the hemi and the titan all where four door 4x2 I don't know which rear end but all where standard and my ****-ometer rated them like this 3rd place f150 sorry but it was not quick next up was the dodge which put a smile on my face and a small lump elsewhere 1st place goes to the nissan which put a huge smile on my face a rather large lump elsewhere and pissed off a CHP officer who couldn't turn round quick enough to chase me but was waiting at the dealership when I returned.
thank god the owner wasn't there and the sales manager was/is my drinking buddy.
in short ford makes a good product a little over engineered for the half ton market
dodge makes a fast truck for playing with
and the titan deserves more respect. and if they ever make a one ton to match the half ton I will buy one

Nickfordman. OD at 70mph? At full throttle? I don't think so. Sorry if I misunderstood you. My old F150 would definately go over that in 3rd.
I'm Canadian here, so I'm using the metric system. 3rd winds out all the way to about 125kmh-130kmh or so, and then OD. This is at full throttle, in an '05 f-150 supercrew. So, you're right, that's a little over 70 mph.
No a Lightning Clone for the past year i was looking for a Gen 1 Lightning to buy and restore hear in austin and around texas. I found a 94 but it was a rust bucket i was going to buy a new f150 i wanted a STX but you cant get one with a 5.4 then i was thinking about a XL with a 5.4 not my stile to much $21'000 i am old school my F150 you guys no what it has $13'000 . What happend to the 18'000 work truck F150's? That test drive Lighting i drove was cool i will never forget that drive. I do like the old 5.9 R/T Dakota
Actually i wouldn't mind haveing a 05 dakota with a 4.7, 3.92 axle and a six speed, 2X4, they run for around 16,000 I'm pretty sure. I'd imagine they'd get up and go. Get headers, X-pipe, flowmasters, cheap intake, cam, and a chip and you got yer self a honda killer lol.
Nickfordman: I think I confused who you were replying to. Still the newer F150 shift to OD that soon? I need to play tommorow w/ my 99, I was pretty sure that it goes quite a bit above that(Actually, I didn't think it WOULD shift to OD at WOT, I'll find out). Don't have a need to do that very often, and when I do I've got more important things on my mind. Of course, rear gearing/tires can change this pretty dramatically anyway, so I don't doubt you.

the hemi will out run the v-10, too. i just sold my 04 dodge ram. it was very fast, but it liked being at the dealership more than my house! sold it at 28?K miles( i don't think it liked all the fords) to sum it up.... the dodge is faster than the f-150 or even a f-250 with the v-10. but the diesels kill it, or at least they did mine. if you want to go fast buy one, but get used to it living at the dealership. me i like having a truck i that costs that much at home, doing it's job. just my $.02
Well the 01-04 V10s were quicker than the 7.3L diesels. The 6.0L diesel was a hair quicker than the 01-04 V10s and the 05 V10 is agian quicker than the 6.0L diesel. So if the diesels killed you the V10 will too. The sad part you just admitted to it in a round about way. Thank you as this is what I've been waiting for some one to say for some time now. JFYI the 6.0 is also the fastest stock diesel so even if it was a duramx or cummins that killed you the V10 is still faster than either of those.
