Ok i stand corrected. I went to a SVT forum, and i guess 93-95 stock lightnings run mid and low 15 second quarter miles. as i posted before stock hemi rams run 15.3's give or take. I now beleive you beat a hemi ram.
My '03 quadcab RAM runs 14.7 -14.8 pretty consistently, on 20" wheels (with limited traction - can't get it to hook up out of the box - so I have to ease it out).
However, it has a couple of mods: K&N filter and flowmaster muffler.
My '05 F250 V10 is no match for it.
When it comes to towing (30 ft. travel trailer), my V10 gets the edge with a bit more torque down low. My hemi is stronger than my v10 from 3,500 rpm up.
These motors have different personalities - I guess it's a matter of what you want.
I've read multiple posts here stating that the new HEMI is not that fast!! That simply is NOT true.

Long story short this truck is a BEAST!! It's scarey fast.
I don't think my Nissan Armada SUV is very fast. It weighs 5800 pounds. It is a 4x4. It is big and can pull 9100 pound load. It has huge 33 inch off road tires as standard equipment.
It turns 14.9 second quarters. Documented. That still is not fast by Lightning standards. But that is better than the much lighter Hemi you mention.

It may be rated for 9100lbs, but I wouldn't make it a habit; ecspesially with 33" tires. I think 9100lbs is wishfull thinking on someones part!!
I miss the real Hemi 426 baby! I think the new one is little short of a joke. And I hate to sya it but I am huge Mopar fan that is getting used to liking my Ford.
But then again I like the old Mopars, not so much the new ones, except for the Dakota I owned for a while. That truck was a bunch of fun and I will own one again.
But when I want to use my truck for work and reliability I am sticking to my Ford.
Easy to work on, hasn't given me any problems, and parts are cheap.
1980 F100 Stepside with a 302. I am happy so far.
The truck you rode in runs about a 15.2 second quarter with a professional driver. I hardly consider that neck snapping but they have a lot of horsepower. Take a ride in a lightning once.
No way not even at sea level. I drive a slow.6 2005 F150 and I raced a 4 door Hemi with cold air, diablo programmer on the mediem program, (I'm not sure if they come this way) limited slip and it did come with 3.92 gears. He of course launched on me with my open end differential but he got me by probably 3 lengths if not a little more. Now I'm in El Paso TX where the elevation is a factor but not that bad and this guy clocked like a low to mid 16. With those mods there is no way that stock even at sea level with the best driver in the world it could do that. Not when an 02 corvette Z06 runs high 12s at sea level stock.

Where do you guys live where you can put up numbers like that? My friend drives an 02 Z06 and he runs low 13s and high 12s with a 405 hp LS6. Not to mention he has cold air intake and a borla exhaust. Don't call driver error cuz he's going to rip the shifter on one day as hard as he shifts. I just don't believe it...no offense

I disagree totally, the 5.7 holds it own, but the 6.1L is a very powerful engine pushing the 300C SRT 8 to 12.9's stock, with a top speed of 173 mph.
