I am so very grateful the RC Savage went to you and your family! I am so glad we didn't donate here locally and pass along an issue that we didn't know about to an unsuspecting kid or adult kid.
Thank you for giving this truck another chance at life. After sending it to you and your family and discussing with you what was going on, it makes sense as to why I couldn't get it started the last time I tried years ago. I think 2017 or 2018 was the last time I had it running, I'm not sure to be honest. Our land is not setup for an RC truck that does 45 MPH quickly.
I am glad that the packaging material worked out, I have not had to pack a large RC truck like that before, so I was doing my best to ensure a safe arrival.
You turned it into an entirely different beast though and both my wife and I are very excited for you all.
Have fun with it and we would still love updates as the time goes on if you are able to!
Holy crap that's a lot more engine that it used to have.
Stock motor was 4.6cc, so 22.9cc larger. The transmission may need to be replaced with something larger. Trying to keep the weight down so it doesn't tear itself up too much. I was all , then started and heard it run for the 1st time and then I was
What's the situation with the compounds on the Ex?
The old girl has been down in Florida for a while but I am going to pick it up tomorrow. Have been giving it a bit of casual thought and if an S475 landed in my lap, well...
All the Coolant lines under the hood need to be re-routed (mainly the ones on the passenger side of the engine bay), probably cut out and replaced with something that is not pre-formed. Both batteries should be mounted in a tray on the frame rails. IMO the degas bottle should be removed and built out of aluminum and remounted where the driver's battery was (or close). This next part I am not sure...The little vacuum pump on the pass. side behind the battery that runs the factory locking hubs. Can that be removed (have aftermarket hubs) or does that control the heater blend doors as well? Low mount oil fill like what an OBS 7.3 has. For the mid-pipe coming off the high pressure turbo I figure 3" and no bigger. Easier to route up into the engine bay, big turbo where the pass. battery and vac-pump were mounted. Lots of things I would like to try but with KC dropping a line of S300 wheels a T4 setup may not be out of the question and getting my hands on a Turbonator may push me to want to run one on multiple applications.
Not a 7.3 but the guys at Power Driven Diesel (cummins guys) have a neat video of building a compound setup on a 6.0 PS. Ill find the link.
Here is the link to the compound build, straight up guys, no drama or BS. Although with a Cummins they have tons of videos of different turbos and combinations running on the dyno, with a good amount of detail and information on each setup.
