And it took me most of the day to get that radio set up and put in because of my foot. Getting out of my truck in my brother's yard I slipped off of a root in his partially washed out driveway and landed sideways on my foot. I am now probably going to be out of work for at least a couple days.... Considering I'm hobbling around with a baseball for an ankle, I felt like at least I did something today. I definitely wasn't standing at the tailgate of my truck to mount the radio to the dash. I came inside and did it on the kitchen table on a nice adjustable bar chair.
TLDR....Could someone suggest what Atoto unit I might want to buy for my Volkswagen MK4 TDIs that I drive daily. I have the S8 Premium in my Exc but that is for what I consider to be my flagship vehicle that I was willing to spend more money on.
If you like the S8 you may want to compare the current offerings in that line.
I don't know when you bought your "S8 Premium" but new models of the line with new features are continually being introduced. Their current cheaper variations may have as many features as the older "Premium" did. Or might be a good time to upgrade the Exc to the latest and greatest, and swap the current to the VW.
I will say that I bought about the same version of the A6 as @Sous did back then. Mine had different button layout, but otherwise same specs. Their current A6 offerings appear to blow that unit out of the water. I'm seriously considering upgrading it to one the newer versions once I've got some other things take care of.
Thanks for that. I see what you mean. I ended up getting the A6 PF refurbished for 100 bucks each on ebay. One for each TDI. Going to leave the one in the Exc alone for now.

Spend the money and get a decent one like the teyes. I still have 0 complaints about it. Night and day difference compared to the cheap Amazon ones. There are a bunch of reviews on the teyes units on YouTube.
For those of you with an S8, have you had connectivity issues with yours, specifically between an OBD adapter and/or a dash cam? What I've found is that the late '23 firmware (231016 - 231120) seemed to cause that. Mine worked OK - though the dashcam connection was always wonky - before I upgraded to the late '23 FW last summer, and it never worked right after that. A couple of weeks ago I upgraded to the mid-'24 version (240527 - 240613), and both dashcam and OBD connections have been rock solid since. I hope that continues.

Thanks for that. I never had an issue but this is great intel. I bought a Wi-fi OBD adapter that was identical to my working BT adapter and have never gotten that to run though.

If you got any questions just ask. I've had mine about 2 years now. I have the teyes cc3 with 2k screen option and the higher ram option. You can get almost any app you can get for a tablet on it. It's got Netflix and all. I have the favtory tailgate camera hooked to it and a dvr front facing camera that records. I didn't get theit front dvr camera I got a cheap one off aliexpress that looks exactly the same and works just fine also.
