Had an idea to put a restrictor in the tube that goes to the actuator. Something inline that restricts flow that would cause the vanes to open up a little slower, increasing spool even more.

these guys really are clowns. So we had exhaust brake function with the electronic actuator. Then they ditched it and did an air actuator for the exhaust brake. Now we are back to electronic actuator for the exhaust brake. The mechanical actuator has also changed multiple times.

I also like how the spool up increase is 200-300 rpm or 200-400 rpm. Just depends where you read. It’s like they just throw random numbers out there!

I can confidently say mine significantly increased spool up! So the VGT works but the marketing is so shady and awful
Yeah I have totally given up on them. I got in touch with them to offer my solution for the REA failures and they totally blew me off. Like you said though, the hardware seems to be working okay so I will just develop off that base.

Yes, but in their case it’s also known as a piehole.

It sounds like they couldn't handle the heat and pressure of your functional expectations and logical solutions.

"Let them eat cake." (or pie).

It appears DPS has made a return to an REA to control the vanes.

They also appear to have many size options now, in T3 and T4 mount.

After being left alone in the truck since 2022, the VGT is startting to show signs of sticking with random EBP surges. Time to perform some maintenance.

Has it really been 4 years since you put that tungsten disulfide on the vanes?

I really hate DPS. They spew marketing BS. “Wont stick like stock 6.7 VGTs”
“Better then 1:1 EBP ratio”
the broken shaft issue.

it’s a great starting point but requires you to make it 100%

Yup, they're a hype machine first and an engineering concern last. I had given up on them a long time ago.

The turbocharger is out of the truck and apart for inspection and relubing. It is in better shape than I had expected. No play in the shaft whatsoever. No signs of wear on aerodynamic surfaces.
