Sounds like it might be a good idea to hook a logic analyzer up to the leads and see what's happening electronically when it stops responding.

That’s a good idea but I don’t know of I can find the motivation now that I have another vehicle to make faster.

Update: Another 725 miles and 42 days later, the REA is still working without further maintenance in all daily scenarios (cold starts, hot starts, short trips, long trips, day or night.). Am I ready to jinx this and call it fixed?

When you get to Vegas, you are going to start noticing the frames and bodies of all the south west desert trucks.
I hope you are planning for the pending quandary you are about to face.

Most of the bodies are pretty average once one gets away from the strip.

Any way you can find the specs on this actuator, voltage/amperage torque?
If heat is a problem, using a remote mount w/ a morse cable could also be an option. Put the actuator someplace not next to the exhaust/turbine.

I should be able to. I have actually identified the exact model but I will need to look theough my notes to tell you what that is.
Remote mounting the actuator is an excellent idea. I wish I had thought of that earlier. It would also help with the original cowl clearance issue.
