Yeah, there have been companies asking people to volunteer to be part of the first wave of people to come back to work, and few volunteer, because they are getting paid more now than when they work, plus... the bonus of not having to work.
That is crazy, but maybe they’ll spend all the newfound wealth and stimulate the economy to get things going again. That really was the intent of the package. Still doesn’t make sense for those working and getting less money.
Yeah. I don't know if printing money to give away is a way to stimulate the economy, but I can't say I wouldn't be a recipient of some of that new money.
I decided this weekend-- maybe the world isn't as crazy as I thought--- maybe my tolerance of it is just declining-- The whole "get off my lawn" syndrome.
To all those still choosing to work as opposed to the gubment cheese you are the true heroes trying to help yourself and your families get through this BS... which in turn helps local businesses stay afloat and adds to the tax coffer's to pay for the takers.
they're the ones that like the progressive agenda, the ones that are going to pay the highest price are the next couple of generations... We're teaching the children well..
I think what I hope is being taught is when life hands yo lemons make lemonade-- At least that is what I hope. Some kids are learning thaat if you stay home the Gov will provide-- but they might have been learning that already.
We know cheese is used to catch rats and mice. The unfortunate thing with the current virus stuff is many folks can’t work because their job is gone or health may make it extra dangerous to take what might be available. It is like the old Cadillac driving welfare queen story. There were some, but most getting assistance actually need it.
These days it is the antiquated systems and understaffed government agencies that were starved of resources for many years not being able to meet an overwhelming unusual demand.
Yep, the system is broken, and there isn't likely any fix, anytime soon.
I am disappointed that there weren't any contingency plans for Pandemic. The state regulates branches, and they make us come up with plans for such items, and if it gets put into action and fails, they fine us. However the very same organization that requires banks to have these plans and policies doesn't have them for themselves.
True, Curtis. In spite of our dislike of government in many things in a large society we need it. Many think privatizing is the answer, but then we end up with things like private prisons that aren’t well run and lobbyists pushing for longer sentences for minor crimes etc. so the owners of prisons can have a full overcrowded house that cost tax payers still more money. Same thing with private/charter schools. Some things governments should do. Some things better left to business.

If you are a mechanic working on todays cars, how would you do it if limited To tools you had 40 years ago. You could do some things but others would be very difficult. Could you deal with ignition issues in a timely, cost effective manner on today’s engines?
Yeah-- biggest problem with government is the federal Gov sticks its nose in where truthfully should be a state or even local issue. Federal Gov was originally designed to provide protection for the people - not give subsidies. Way too many politicians are out to line their own pockets or concentrate on exposing wrong doings of "the other side" - then actually helping the people. I know there are allot of people in need right now-- but there is also allot of abuse- and has been for lots of years. I think if you gop on welfare and are now making 5 or 6 times what you were making before-- there is a problem. There are allot of problems with many systems in Government.
Greedy CEOs can't be left off the hook either though. The Waltons,(Walmart) have more money than their great grandchildren could spend in a lifetime, but they pay their employees scraps of a paycheck. If their employees would get laid off and have to go on unemployment, or welfare because of it, and earn more in either of those situations than they did while working...…. There is a problem as well.
Amazon is another example. We had an employee that worked for Amazon for a year. They made little more than minimum wage, and worked like dogs, and were threatened every day at work, that if they didn't perform their job at top speed and quality, they would be replaced in a heartbeat. Jeff Bezos is a very wealthy individual. What percentage of his employees would qualify for better pay on welfare, or unemployment with a bonus?
