Turbo Plans....
I could not get the y pipe to mount up to the back of the turbo as I'm doing this mostly by myself. Wife tried to help no luck. Took turbo and up pipes off and worked backwards. Mounted the Y pipe first then the up pipes and all but 1 bolt had to come from the bottom. All are in now and torqued. Lost the compressor housing to spider clamp. Can't find locally. Do more searching over the weekend. My only issue now is remembering whre everything goes. Some of the lines pulled out when taking the turbo in and out and for now not a clue where they go. Took pics but not that detailed. The exhaust flange had springs holding them together, Not sure what they were for but do they need to go back? I have to go back to work on Monday so this project will really slow down.
Too late now, but when I am disassembling something, I put blue painters tape on the end of connectors and hoses so that I can see them easily during re-assembly. I also put clamps, bolts, etc into ziplock snack bags with a sticky note in it for where they go or what they are for.
. This wasn't suppose to take this long but I should have known better. My one friend years ago gave me a stick on numbering system that worked great. Little bitty stickers that stuck really well and you would place them on the corresponding parts. The tape idea is awesome too. However I figured most of it out. I do have one question and just take a look at what I got to verify correctness.
The question is the boss on top left side of the pedestal.and what is it for. Did I miss something?
I delete the red and green hoses and describe some techniques (read: The Best Way - lol) for installing the turbo and up-pipes in my thread from a couple months ago.

Here you can see the clamp pre-positioned on the collector.
Notice the up-pipe to collector bolts on driver’s side are loose?
Loose up-pipe takes some weight off the collector making it much lighter to position and hold while you put the clamp on.
The up-pipes are just resting on the manifolds. No bolts. If you have a helper, they can push the up-pipes up to help hold them in place while you slide the clamp up into position.
Its easy to tighten the drivers side bolts after collector is on turbo.
Next I move to the fuel tank for the Hutch and harpoon mods.

All I can say is try something you think might work then check it after a bit of driving.
Keep in mind the bolts bottom out on a shoulder when using the springs. Take a look at them closely if you decide to try and replicate.

Ya there were some springs in that connection where the down pipe meets the rest of the exhaust. I assume it was to keep pressure on the flange connection. Probably wasn't factory maybe a local muffler shop installed it then. I throw them away because they were so rusty and I used a cut off to remove.

Local muffler shop usually cannot bend 3.5” tubing.... What did they do??
