I could not sleep so for fun, I went out and did this to my 2018 F350 XLT. No issues with the install at all. Longest part was unzipping all the usb2 files and getting them into the syncmyride folder. Thank you all for your efforts in making this happen.
Unfortunately this did not work. I left the truck as it was last night and went out this morning. Still on 19200, still no Sirius XM logos
Edit: trying once again with a USB drive that worked as USB 2. It reads the drive with a consistent flash for about 20s and stops. Updating system software showing for 30+ minutes
Edit 2: I was able to get 19274 installed by redoing the whole process over from USB 1 and following the step on the F150 forum. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/upgra...8/#post6356291
Initially I have no SirusXM logos after a reset but maybe something will change down the road. If not, I'm not all that worried about it right now.
Good to hear you got it working. The issue you had, from what I understand, is that non-Nav has half the memory of the Nav units so you run out of room doing upgrades. The thread you referenced on the f150forum is by user name Airborne_Ape. This guy REALLY knows his stuff when it comes to Sync. For anyone else having issues, not addressed here, I would strongly recommend seeking his assistance in the above forum.

Just started this, well not just, but am on the final USB. It's taking forever! It's probably been 30-40 minutes and still says "Updating System Software..." at the top of the screen. Does the third one take the longest?

If you have a non-Nav system then yes and it may not install if it runs out of room. The 2nd part of the install should only take about 25 minutes. The 3rd part is fast on a newer nav system.
EDIT: See Hawkeye_F250's post above.

Off the wall kind of question. Anybody used a Mac to do this yet? I tried to install a SYNC update in the past and it failed. I didn't know if it was me or the USB or the computer. Just trying to take a variable out somewhere. Thanks.

Yes. macOS does have some hidden files, but I've had NO issues using a Mac with my 2018 F-150 with Nav.
Your file structure and syntax are critical with NO room for error. If you have problems take a screenshot of your exact file structure, in the finder, and post for feedback from other members. The exact install errors, if any, are also helpful.

Thanks. I'm looking at doing it end of the week, so I'll post back with any issues next year. Yeah I know, bad joke.
Any reason to NOT do this to a 2017? Anything not working, or any downsides to future updates? Thanks.
This whole process is unsupported by Ford. If you install 3.4 I would not expect any official updates directly from Ford in the future. We're all going to be hunting those same official files when a new update comes out. However, there's a LOT of Ford F series owners that have done this so you'll never be alone.
If you have a non-Nav the risk is in the amount of memory available and how that relates to future updates. Some owners have reported issues with playing music from USB drives. Some owners have reported issues with sat logos. The other forum referenced a few posts back has a thread on this topic with 400K+ views. The amount of brain power in that thread is amazing so there's plenty of help. The only serious issues I've seen are from firmware update attempts which are not really needed. Most 2016 owners have to upgrade their USB hub, but that's the only hardware issue I know about.
My experience after upgrading in early October has been 100% positive. No regrets!
So, does anyone know how to downgrade back to 3.0? I hate it and liked the older style...
Sorry, but there's no going back. The reformat utility changes the structure of the storage to support 3.4 and does not support the 3.0 file structure.
EDIT: Maybe the OP needs to add a warning in big bold letters.
