I don’t understand why so many people want ambient lighting, let alone be able to change the colour. I have it on my 18 and whenever I am driving throughout the night, I turn it off, my nav screen off, place a hat on the steering column to cover the lights from the gauges and I am looking for a good way to cover all the radio light up buttons. YES, I know how to dim everything to it’s lowest setting. All the lights in these trucks hurt my eyes while driving 10hrs straight through the night. I’m also driving terrible roads in terrible winter conditions. If I am doing normal night time driving for personal use, I leave all the lights on and the ambient lighting stays to the ice blue setting. If my truck didn’t come with ambient lighting, I wouldn’t spend $10 to add it. I just recently made the switch from Ram 2500 to Ford 3500 and all I see on this forum is guys adding raptor lights to the grill, lick and stick roof lights, lights for the running boards and light bars. (I added light bars to the front grill to fill the gaps between those bars to close that terrible gap) I must admit, the light bars have been helpful when my headlights get completely covered in mud from passing logging trucks but other than that, I don’t get the infatuation with lights. Lights every where. Sorry for the rant, obviously you guys like the lights. I just couldn’t stop typing.

I don't know if you can "Modify" an exisiting 19 that has ambient already. The lighting modules in the body and doors from a 19 may be different then the 15-17 F150's or 17 and 18 SD's. I used modules from the older vehicles and also used the Forescan code from an older vehicle that had the adjustable lighting. This is probably one of the best mods and I will also say the ambient doors are the best part. I'll tackle my driver side door this weekend hopefully and be completely done except the console. I have to order a new one for that yet.

You think the interior lights of your truck hurt "your" eyes but you have light bars installed on your truck. Hope you don't run those on the road, because nothing hurts the eyes of other drivers like a light bar does. And by the way, the "gaps" in your grille are to allow air to cool your radiator.

I use the lightbars only when driving down logging or ice roads when I need extra light on the shoulders of the roads. The roads are soft up here in the northern Canadian oil fields so you can’t just pull over to the side or you will get sucked in and sink the truck. I don’t use the lightbars driving on the highway. The gaps in between the bars on the grille annoy me because I hit numerous birds a year and those gaps are the perfect size to allow a bird to go into my rad, not to mention rocks and debris being thrown by logging trucks. I’d rather break a $40 light bar than damage the rad. The grille still allows a lot of air flow so the light bars have absolutely no negative effect for cooling. The attached picture, the closest car wash is 140km away and the truck is just as dirty from the drive back. Drives me nuts having a filthy vehicle for months on end but can’t really do much in the winter here. The interior lights lighting up the interior of the cab at night aren’t bad for a few hours of driving but try driving 10hrs in pitch black conditions with all those lights shining at you. It will hurt your eyes.

Good for you not running them on the highway. A lot of jerks do that here. It's illegal, but you can't catch them all. Being in Canada you can probably get away with some of the opening blocked without issue but you might be surprised the impact it could have in hot weather pulling heavy.

Too bad Ford doesn't have the night panel function like Saab did years ago...press one button and the only thing in the entire cab lit up is the speedometer. I agree the inside of a modern truck can get pretty busy at night. Personally, I like it...but would like to be able to shut it off, too.

Absolutely agree with you about towing heavy in hot weather. We get to about 30 degrees Celsius in my area and it does take a toll when I pull my 14,000lb trailer. If I lived in a hotter climate, no way would I block those gaps. I would install an after market grille to allow maximum airflow and protection from the damn birds. I hit about 40 birds a year. I guess that’s what I get when I seasonal camp nead a bird sanctuary. Lol I get a lot of dirty looks pulling into the park with dead birds stuck in the grille.

Mkos - thank you!! We will def be in touch if I decide to do the doors for sure. I have an appreciation of your full OE look! I double checked my console with the thought if you could use any parts from it but it appears the entire cup holder assembly needs to be replaced. What is unfortunate is that the cup holder assembly is fastened to the upper console piece so I don't know why Ford makes you purchase the entire upper console to get the cup holders. If you can use nay part of it - lemme know. I justified it in the fact that I am still less than Ford's universal ambient light kit - not knocking it but it definitely does not provide the OE look.

As MKOS stated - the light modules may be different but I would think it is worth a try to make the coding changes. Worst case your modules are only one color and then it is a matter of swapping them out for the multi- color if you choose - I ordered my modules using a 2017 VIN. Try using the coding changes listed earlier in this thread and show us a pic of your ambient light screen. Mine is posted above in post #64 - that is what was enabled through the code changes; prior to that ambient lighting was not even listed on my screen. With your '19 and the change to fixed color and intensity, what does you screen currently look like from the factory out of curiosity?

About 70% of my driving is at night on unlit roads - the cup holder was what I was after the most. May seem silly to some, but I enjoy the soft glow and provides a nice target for me to land my coffee cup in. Plus the kids think its cool so that is all that really matters
I popped the floor modules in as well since everything was in place and have been happy with the amount of light and def would not want more either. The cool thing is that with these changes, you can change intensity and color, and turn it off. If I was stuck with ice blue at fixed intensity, I would not have incurred the cost of this modify.
I like your light idea on the grill lights too BTW - Got me thinking since I have to avoid deer like it sounds you avoid birds. Mind sharing what lights you purchased?

Correct and I never said that I did own a SD but I do own a 2016 F150 with ambient lighting and the SD`s cab is a F150 cab.

I didn’t see your question. I just bought these cheap ones from amazon. I think they were around $70. I see that they are not available anymore which sucks because they were the perfect size. 1/8” bigger and they would not fit. These lights dont make it brighter further, they extend the viewing angle. I think if you missed a deer with the headlights, you’d be by the deer before you saw it in the field of view of these lights. I live in deer alley in southern Saskatchewan and the LED brights work great. The roads I drive for work I have to be on the lookout for deer, caribou, moose, bears (lots of black bear and a few grizzly) and damn wild buffalo.

I may be weird but the wife and I took the truck to dinner last night that was about 60 miles away. The truck looked great with the lights on inside. So relaxing. Hopefully the console comes in this week and I can make my wire harness for it and finish the transition. I've thought about modifying the rear cupholder using the F150 cupholder strip ambients from a 15 to 17

No not at all - I think the same thing driving at night - it really adds something to the interior.
It’s a shame they dropped it or stripped it down as I think it’s one of those small things that makes a big difference.
I’ve been toying with doing the rear console too - the kids get such a kick out of it especially when I change the color.
