Ok, I did one door tonight. Although the connector is not in the door, the data, brown wire and power , green/red is in the cab harness connector at the door/cab connector. I made a 100% factory door harness for it utilizing the proper gauge wire, cloth tape and Yazaki terminals and connectors. Ran all 3 wires along factory, through door boot and pinned the data 22g and power 20g wire. For ground, I removed the black wire from the door connector, opened it up and recrimped it with the 20g black wire. The door panel will need a small hole drilled and a slit cut for the lights. I epoxied them in with a few dabs on job weld plastic epoxy. While thing takes about 2 hours per door with dry time and making harness although I have the other 3 made up already. I will really detail and take good pics of the other door as I know theres guys like me out there who love doing this stuff the correct way. Oh btw your going to have to reset the bcm with forscan after each new module is added.
Nicely done and thank you for sharing - I don't know if you saw but I posted some pics of the console and ambient lighting screen in another thread. I am with you, if I am going to add it, I want it to look like OE hence why I bought the console piece. Note I picked up the other style console that has the sealed rubber pads to hold cups verse the plastic fingers. I like this style better - seems to let my cup in and out easier.
I opted to forgo the doors - the seats, foot wells and console seem to be enough but this is great info for those who want to do more. I like your attention to detail and thank you for sharing - looking forward to pics of the finished product!
I found I had to do the BCM reset as well - and I think it can be changed, but I noticed that entry/exit lighting is defaulted to ice blue on my truck regardless of the ambient light color I currently have chosen.
Looks great!. Do you have a part number for that console assembly? Did you order the harness too or did you have to tap into somewhere for the console to work? If I recall correctly only the doors should change when opening. My one door turns red when open while the rest stays blue.
The part number for the console in my pic is HC3Z-25045A76-CA. I was able to purchase it for I think $168. You can buy the replacement LED and pigtail that goes into the cup holder (one piece), but in order to get the cups that accept it, you have to purchase that whole upper piece.
I did as you and Johnathanjr stated - I just pig tailed off the front passenger side foot well light. I spent a lot of time fishing my hand in there where the console harnesses connect to the truck and I am willing to bet the wires are there up to that connection. But you would have to remove the console to verify and connect it and wasn't getting into that. I bet there is a separate console harness that has all the connections I do plus the cup holders so that would have been another part as well.
Nice work - having the doors and the color change when you open them is cool - I may add them down the road.
And yes that is my understanding that only the doors change as well - what I noticed is that even though I have Cool Blue selected which is much darker shade, all of my interior lights are ice blue when I unlock the doors or remove the key and lock the doors for that exit delay. As soon as I put the key in and turn it, it goes to my selected color. Doesn't bother me just curious why it does that. I definitively would not want ice blue all the time however LOL
I would like both front seat footwell areas and maybe under the front seats for rear seat foot area. One color would be fine. I looked under the dash and could not find any existing connections.

The xl"s BCM doesnt have the capability to offer that option. It can be done on the xlt though but the main bcm wires will have to be made up and attached.

FYI........The doors will always change to red when they`re opened.
It`s a safety feature.
Yep I copy thank you - I did not add the doors, the default to ice blue I am seeing is in reference to the cup holders and foot well. I would have thought it would stay to whatever color I had selected.
I apologize for no pics on the other back door but I did that at work tonight. I glued the pieces in today, ran my harness and it lit right up and worked as it should without doing another bcm reset. Sunday I will take pics of the passenger side front door install.
Pics. Wiring for door will be later this week.. 1 small hole for the ambient and the slit which has to be made for the long ambient. I used a dremel. Took 1 minute for the slit and used a small drill.for the hole. Epoxyed them in using jb weld plastic epoxy. Then covered them like factory with cloth tape
