Unless you guys have to have control through the center stack screen, I'd recommend looking at F150LED's. They have ambient kits with a remote, that are way cheaper than OEM. If you buy two kits for 10 ledstrips, snd the LED sets for the cupholders, youll be way ahead. I bought a kit for my 2018 F150, and the same kit for my sons 2011. Should be going in soon. With the cab interiors being the same for the 2017+ Super Duties and F-150's, it's an easy fit.
the forscan codes I used are listed above? Where did u find the cup holder led? You basically have to order half the console for it....
Thank you - I will try those.
I did exactly that but I get good pricing being a repair shop and then telling the dealer it is for my personal truck - round numbers I think it was $160. I also ordered the actual cupholder LED's with harness only to find the aforementioned cupholder assembly comes with everything. I used a 2017 Lariat Ultimate VIN number to confirm, the cup holder assembly colors are the same in the dark interior regardless of exterior color. Side note the cupholder assembly does unscrew out so why Ford can't just sell that...never mind, I know why.
I can only hope now that when I pull the old cup holder assembly, that the truck end of the harness is laying there for me to just plug and play. If not I will just grab power from the nearby compartment light that is in the center console and call it a day. For the seat LED's, can I assume those plug right into the seat module located under the seat and so when you change the coding in Forscan, they will work.
I know others have made this change but I cannot seem to find details or pics so I am unclear if I can just plug the stuff in and make code changes or if I have to modify truck harnesses. Being a Lariat Value, I am hoping and assuming all the necessary truck ends are there laying unconnected.

Good suggestion and I did look into that...but my untreated OCD would not permit it. Much like many of us, this is a victim of decontenting and I really want to retain the truck to be as original as possible. I also do not want a lot of light and have no plan to add the door or even foot well LED's. I thought the cupholder was a nice touch and the under seat LEDs for general light. But as stated above, if harness and wire is not there and it is really involved, I'll just power the cupholder with ignition source and call it a day.
...Ford - I want my tranny drain plug too and grease fittings on the ball joints and tie rods would be a modern touch.
Thank you !
And thank you jonathanjr for the in depth info. Your post is what I used to take this small upgrade on. I apologize as I realized I asked some questions in previous post you already answered LOL long day.

your going to have to tap into one of the ambient lines as there's a power, ground and data wire. You can put power and a ground to it all day long but it won't turn on unless a message sent from sync turns it on.
And I believe you will have to tap into the drivers idea seat or footwear to fire up the cupholder. It runs off a different bus line from the BCM.. somebody tried to put it to the passenger side once and it wouldn't do anything. I found all this info from a page on the f150 boards. He put all factory ambient in an xlt...
If you are referring to my post, F150LED kit is stand alone with a remote, LED strips, and controller for unlimited colors. The only connections are power and ground. You cannot run the aqua blue Ford lighting as various colors, as the diodes in place are not red, green, blue, and white.
Love keeping my ambient lighting to to green during the holidays. White for New Years and red for Fourth of July. Then ice blue till Fall and I go with Yellow.

No I ordered a 19 Platinum. I think the iceblue on brown leather will look dumb.
Only thing I didn’t like about this on my 15 f150 was the cup holder as I thought it should stay blue. I left it on red or purple.
Does f150led make a fix for this? Sorry I didn’t read the whole thread.
I pulled a door panel and no connections, and for the heck of it pulled console and no connector on a lariat value
Thank you for checking that!!! I am trying to get everything in order before I pull it apart as it is my only vehicle. I did not know about the console. That is a bummer.
My area is more conventional electric and I still am trying to fully understand how CAN works. So assuming there is no wires at all and I just have to pull power, what does the data signal consist of? Is it a PWM signal, steady 5 volt, steady 12 volt.? Can I duplicate it without a connection to the BCM so the console is lit anytime ignition is on and forgo the ability to turn it on and off via Sync.
Despite no connector, I am hoping the wires are buried in the harness within the console and just need to be pulled out and connected to the console either by adding the physical connector or just splicing the wires together.
If forscan changes are completed, does that activate everything needed or did you physically have to connect with BCM? In other words, you said you plugged the seat and footwells in and it worked after the forscan changes - that would tell me that all the architecture already exists so I would have to assume at the least the wires exist somewhere in the console.
Back to under the seats - when you plugged in, what did you plug into? I cannot find a physical connector so I am assuming there is a spot on the driver seat module that is hanging out under there. Jonathanjr referenced looking under the passenger seat for a lighting module and showed a pic but I am unable to tell what he is saying is the module - I appear to only have a seat module under mine.
I am sorry - I don't mean to drag this out but I am having a hard time trying to understand exactly what is needed and if it is even possible to add the factory ambient to the console, under seats and under footwells - I was going to skip the doors, I think it is too much anyway.
Side note - this forum is great. I am new to this forum but not new to forums in general - you guys have been a great help when I was ordering and purchasing my '19, and so I try to give back whenever I can. As as a longtime GM guy, my 2015 F150 converted me and then I upgraded when the long awaited F150 diesel came out and I saw first hand the lack in value verse a Super Duty (another argument not for here) but either way, I love this truck!
