Looking for advise.this truck has been in the family since the early 80's and was parked shortly after dad had bought it. parked cause he bought a 56, typical farmer, just park it when you get something different lol..
I have dreamed of fixing this truck up since I was a kid. well now the adventure is about to start it will be a slow venture, but I am hoping to have a driving truck within a year or two. not looking for a show truck, just want to drive this old girl, as for a donor truck, I have a 84 f150 that has a 351w, c4 and a 9" rear, so I am off to a good start there.
I have the front clip off and the old flat head and 3 speed trans out. so next order of business is the mustang II crossmember. I am thinking I should probably pull the cab off now. I have been looking at the welder series coil over version. but before I pull the trigger I would like to hear from anyone out there that has one and how the install went with the cutting that needs to be done. do I need to have my spindles and hubs, control arms tire size etc etc, before so I know where it need to be cut to fit,
NICE truck, good start-- I always use Mustang II front kits with power rack, Heidts. Vented rotors, 2" drop spindels--The BEST and safe way to go--EASY to install and directions are easy to understand--I use 1996 - 2000 Explorer rears with DISK brakes-- small c-6 trans with small bell housing--call J.P.L in PA. with questions---- the BEST $ 1,600.00 you will ever spend-- good luck
Let me know if you need a home for that 3 speed. I am always looking for a good original core. Thanks

so man I had it out of the truck for 3 days and had it sold. so using that money to put back into the truck, and thats when I came across welder series cross member

what size of tire are you running, that one thing I have to decide on is tire size, I will most likely go with a 15-16' rim but not sure on what a good tire size is for these trucks., I will be doing the 2" drop spindle, as far as welding the cross member and stuff, I have been welding for years and not afraid to tackle something like the welder series MII cross member and 4 link
I have the Heidt's Superide ll on my 56, love the ride and handling. I have 7 inch wide x 15 inch with a 4 inch backspace P235/70R15 tire up front. Bottom of the front bumper is 8 1/2" from the road but I have stock height spindles..

I have read through your build, very impressive, I am another fellow Canadian, little bit west of you on the prairies.
is there a good place in Canada to order parts?
well I ordered the welder series MII coil over cross member and the triangulated 4 link. One question I have. I know I have read somewhere about different width 9" diffs. mine came out of a 84 f150, is it going to be to wide, how easy can it be narrowed if needed.
well tonight I got her stripped down to the frame, slow progress, but still progress. my Paul Hortons welder series trianglated 4 link and MII cross member came today, can't wait to get home and start building it
Hey FullyFord
Your truck cab floor looks a lot better than our's did... amazed it's not rusted through.
I think I spy an 80's Olds Cutlass hiding back there in one pic.... Any more pics of that ...
We had a nice Cutlass Calais... looked great but could hardly keep it running.

(Those are some pretty long views behind your place. ...I'd hate to plow that field).
