Hi Guys
Haven't been here for a little while, I guess I have just been too busy in the Workshop working on my 41 Ford COE, which will have a 302 Cleveland V8 with FMX Auto mounted behind the Cab and dare I say it, will use a C30 Chebby Rear End and Front End. This will be a ramp truck for my ****** Coupe or Pickup.
So I think that makes 3 Ford COE owners on this Forum, more power to the COE's (grin) if anyone would like to check out my COE go here.

Old Ford Trucks in the Blood

Hi My name is Gary and I live on a fairly remote island in Washington St.I am still learning to use these type of sites as I am not too computer savvy.I posted a blurb about myself here a few days ago but cant find it so I will do it here. My grandpa sold Fords in Wareham Mass in the 20's.When he died at 47,his widow sold to Suddards who still own it I think. My first old Ford was a 28 AA 1 1/2 ton when I was 19 in 1972.Then marriage kids etc. 15 years ago I bought a 38 one ton and rebuilt most of it,turning it into an 8' express.I found a trailer made from a 47 one ton box and had to narrow it down. Also mated running boards Frankenstein style.I installed a 59 ab fh witht a 4" merc crank.Used it as a daily driver for 9 years and worked it real hard as the only truck in my growing cabinet buainess.Down I-5 to Seattle at 70 pulling a tandem axle trailer(those 12 volt trailer brakes would stop me). These trucks had a std 4:11 axle ratio and with those tall 7.50x17's it was geared higher than a lot of modern trucks. In 39 they lowered the ratioto something like 4:58.Sold that, bought a 32 BB swb, later a 34 BB lwb, next a 51 F3 pickup.2 years ago Idelivered a truck to Seattle for a friend and ended up coming home with a sweet 29 AA stakebed ALL original(wood too).It had been a grocery delivery truck in Elko Nevada. Was in Sunday time for 3 weeks with no responses.Never drive around with an empty trailer!People moving to these islands love my trucks and always talk me out of them.Ive kept the 29. I just bought a 40 1 1/2 ton with a 63 401 cu Buick nailhead and auto trans, power brakes. Looks real stock outside. It is my new Project.I am out working on it every night. It is not my usual style, but whoever converted it was a very clever individual,on a budget and using one ton van brake master cyl and all bracketry. It all seems to work great, but engine still has problems to address.. Well, back to the cabinet shop to suck in more sawdust.....GB ps I have lots of 38 one ton parts and a rolling chassis that is real nice .(trading stock)

R.A. here. First truck was a 1940 Ford Express. Got a 38 Fargo 1 1/2 ton (for $2) and drove it home, about 600 miles a few years later. Sold them both...rats! Now have a 1977 Ford F350 Supercab to pull my 27' 5th wheeler all over. Won't get a new one till its wheel (or mine) fall off.

Got a 40 1/2T PU that I ran for awhile until the late 80s. After taking up space in the garage for awhile my wife said to make it a cruise vehicle, so, in October I started my 10th year of working once a week on it. After eating-up a lot of $$ over this time it is starting to look like maybe it could roll again soon. Working the front fenders and hood and then it's paint time. Makes me feel 17 again.

All though I'm currently driving an 01 f250 sd, I would one day like work on restoring a 36 to 41 PU. right now I am trying to get some info on a truck that has been parked in what looks to me as inpound yard just few towns away I can get a look a it from the highway, no place to park and it's fenced in. So in mean time I hope that you all don't mind that might ask some stuipd questions on restoring a truck sometime.

Hi.I am Bobby(all typing done by my wife,Debby). I am new - just joined in the last few days. I have a 1940-41 Ford pickup that I've owned for 35 years but just started restoring. Need all the info I can find as I will be doing all the mechanical and body work myself ( with maybe a little help from Debby).

new something!!

Hi,

Found this site while searching google for some 9 inch nodular info. this is way cool..... I have a 1940 1/2 ton flatbed pu which is about 50% done. we've been at it for about 3 of the last six years. i've had it for about 25 years. i drove it daily until 1990, then parked it til we took it apart in 1998. it has a brand new weedetr chassis, air ride front and rear, 325 ci blown dodge hemi, th700r4 trans and 9" rear 4:11 posi. the engine is nearly complete, the chassis is nearly ready. a close friend of mine got so tired of seeing it not make any process, he started working on it on tuesdays. so now, i take off tuesdays, and we get something, anything done.

my other truck is a 66 f100, i drive it daily. cadillac 502 powered, 3.00:1 rear gears, by golly, that girls sure gotta lotta grunt. if you want to pull, that cad combo is real hard to beat!!.

anyways, neat to find you folks, hope to be able to drop in now and then. feel free to email anything regarding either of the trucks.

Hi,
We just joined a few days ago and already found a bunch of info on the truck. Looks like this will be a "family" project (ha,ha-that's my wife's laughter). I am just an old country red-neck "that don't know nothing" about computers so for the most part the wording and the typing belongs to her. This may be her only contribution to the rebuild but it is turning out to be a rather large one.
Love this site. The folks here are very free with their information. Hope that we will be able to assist someone with a need.

'33 pickup

Hi all. Ralph in casino land (S. E. Connecticut, not Las Vegas). I'm trying real hard to restore my 33 pickup. It was run hard and put up wet!! It was pulled from the woods too, and has plenty of rust. Having a hard time finding information on pickups. It looks like this forum will be a good place to find some.

Hi!
On my wedding day (5 years ago this week),
my wife handed me a "to my new husband" greeting card.
Inside was the title to "the dump truck"! What a woman!
Well, that's enough about me, now for the Jailbar...
It is 1942 1.5 ton with 1945 military dump box and hoist.
My uncle was 2nd owner, my brother the 3rd, I'm the 4th
Converted to 12 volt about 15 years ago.
8RT engine (not original), single speed rear axle,
Top speed ~45mph, 55 downhill with tailwind.
Cab is(was) red, trim and wheels are Tacoma Cream, box is
olive drab.
Water pumps leak, emergency brake works, the wiring is
crumbling (no lights, heater, or horn).
Only window that isn't cracked or broken is the drivers front.
When I drove it from the ranch to town a few years back,
we had to stop 3 times in 30 miles to refill the radiator.
Unfortunately it is still 600 miles from home, so until it can
be hauled/towed here, the repairs aren't being done (sigh!)

Talking Photo Gallery Questions

Carlene,

I tried to do a gallery photo setup. It was in there, then gone!!!

I wanted to modify it, but then could not find it again. I went to FAQS, but there were no instructions there.

Do you have some kind of quickie instruction sheet to tell us low techies how to do this???

I think if I start to post to a gallery, I will force myself to work on my truck. I have owned it and driven it, for 25 years. I tore it down about 6-7 years ago, and started from scratch. I nearly did not touch it all of last year. This website has kind of rekindled the desire to finish this monumental project.

This is not my first rodeo by far, but it has been the toughest.

Thanks in advance for looking into this for me.

uba40............. I did figure out the font and color deal!!! cool!!! huh??????
