Not worth $600. The addition of CJ sized valves does nothing for those heads. The gain is in porting the runners. Go alum.

shortly after I posted that question I found a flow chart comparing the two. Intake flow was very close overall to the edelbrocks but the exhaust fell off on the CJ head. I’m at the point now where I have other things to buy that are more important than my hp goal. So I will be buying these heads since I need heads ASAP and I’ll be saving over half of what I’d spend for the edelbrocks
and yes it honestly is worth 600. Considering it’s a machine shop selling these heads and how much it would have cost to do that in the first place plus the price of a rebuildable core makes it worth well over 600 IMO

Sorry, you asked. My buddy just sold a set of reconditioned D2 heads for less than $300.

I am assuming they also come with hardened valve seats and new valve guides. Maybe even gasket matched them. So I think they are worth the $600. But KC does have a point. At what RPM point are they falling off compared to the Eddys?
I wish Bobby hadn't gotten ticked at our Mods and was still hanging out here. I'd be curious his opinion.

Apologize about not updating lately, been having a bit of an issue with money lately but this is how it’s sitting now (intake is also on, just didn’t get a picture) I’m at an issue though, my heads have been machined .010 and block decked .012, so I need different sized pushrods, where can I get them at?

This is where I got mine. https://www.pushrods.net They can do anything you might need/want. Mine were custom and 7 day turnaround.

Had to play with the filter on my phone

Yes it made it home fine, even managed to fit my engine hoist in the back too
Apologize about lack of keeping everyone up to date, been dealing with some real frustration from simple small things finishing getting my engine done. But it’s done!(besides actually having the engine installed, I couldn’t get the T18 splines to line up correctly due to some weird angles upon install, even though clutch and pilot bushing are correctly installed. Gonna just drop the transmission tomorrow night and slide it on the engine and put both in as one assembly.

What brand clutch is that? 11 1/2 or 12 inch?

Nice 390 build thread. I'm working on my 390... What kind of gaskets did you use for the intake? Any tips on mating the intake to the engine? Did you use RTV to seal the water ports? Look forward to hearing how your engine turns out.
All the best -

I used the supplied edelbrock gaskets, really it’s a toss up between felpro and edelbrock intake gaskets, some here like one, some like the other. To set the intake on the easiest way I found was to have a friend assist you in lining it up, or else a engine hoist will come in handy also, using your distributor hole you can see in and line it up visually pretty well. Definitely makes it 200x easier on your sanity to have a buddy to help align things especially if you’re like me and this is your first time. I did use RTV on the water ports, not sure if it’s necessary but I have seen it done a lot so I did it anyways.
