Don’t know why I didn’t inspect it right away, but upon further inspection of the rods they are the C7AE-B rods, so I get to get away with a little more sturdiness on the rotating assembly side. Block matched with that of a 428 CJ which made me happy for a second, then I remembered ford block casting numbers don’t matter for these year engines and that my bore was the stock 4.05. So that faded quick. Friday is coming up and I’ll be picking up my good as new block!

You'll have to have valve springs that can handle that 530 lift.

That block looks good, quality work.

Now spend some time cleaning the casting flash so you don't have any sharp edges to cause cracks. Do this inside and out.

I had kinda figured that, I just wanted to make sure rocket wise with end stands I wouldn’t have an issue with running that lift and spring combo

The timing alignment mark on the cam gear is at about the 2:00 position in this pic. You did mount the timing chain and gears with the cam gear mark at 6:00 and the crank gear's mark at 12:00, correct?

Yes it was installed properly, I had just spun the rotating assembly around a few times to test everything

Well the T18 and Dana 60 have a combined parasitic loss of about 15% depending on who you ask. So if your flywheel horsepower is 400 your rear wheel horsepower will be around 340. Math is a wonderful and useful tool!

Got another question for y’all. I found some reconditioned 390 heads with CJ sized valves for sale for 600 dollars. Is this worth it to you guys? Only issue is I’d have to wait about 3 weeks to get it.

Are the 390/CJ valve heads off ebay? I just ordered a set (took 3 weeks) they were nicely finished. I had my local shop check them for spec and they were good to go.
