I will definitely order the mount from DC really soon while I have the front clip off.
Got home from work today and was met by my favorite sight. Now I gotta send off the block for machining and order a few more parts and I should be set

Also had gotten the front clip off to add to my 4 separate projects I’m doing including chasing a billion problems with my absolutely trash Chevy S10 Blazer. Current engine in the bump will be pulled and stored for future builds and the block I bought will be dropped in

Good to see you have the 3G alternator. That's a good plus.

You need to upgrade those brakes if you are going to add all this horsepower.

While I do plan to do something with them, I disagree. I do not plan on racing at a road course nor do I plan on going insane speeds and having to stop quickly. Maybe once a year I’ll go to a strip otherwise it’s gonna be a DD and weekend cruiser. I could kill my brakes just as quickly doing what I’m gonna do with the stock 360 as I will with the built 390

Got a good amount done today after work, figuring out more and more a rebuild was definitely needed on my old block. Burnt valves and carbon galore Also found out my new to me 390 block and crank is finished and I will be picking it all up tomorrow!

That's excellent information!

That's a great price. I paid over 100.00 just for my cam bearing installer tool. I don't know what a boring bar costs but it aint cheap, plus machinists need to eat too you know.

Just a heads up if you use the Edelbrock#350-60065 heads. I had to send mine back twice (to Edelbrock) because the threaded/helicoils holes were not right. My heads had different depth holes that was going to present some problems and some wouldn't take a stud/bolt. Mfg took care of the problems but twice shipped cost me time & $.

IMPORTANT:My salvation was test fitting/threading all bolts/studs before installing the heads. I used ARP bolts for everything.

Irony was my heads were the last set in stock @ Jegs so that's why everything had to go back to Edelbrock. My dyno was something like 370~375hp @ 4800~5k & 400+ftlb starting around 2800rpm just on a 650cfm carb. I ran out of air/fuel ratio. But I have no plans to race my 71 CS/250, just haul & tow.

Will be picking up the new block this coming Friday. Ended up being abou 1100 for a complete rework of the block. A little more than what I wanted but it’ll have to do. Block was thermal cleaned, decked, bored and honed .030, line bored (wasn’t aware this needed to be done, shop just did it anyway) grinded crank .010 on both journals and installed cam bearings and core plugs and oil galley plugs. So should be ready to go real soon

Line boring trues up the mains and is really needed during a rebuild. Sounds like a good shop did the work and 1100 isn't bad at all.

Got the final parts besides my cylinder heads ordered today, will be picking up the block and crank this Friday and can’t wait to see it, thermal cleaning does leave the entire block looking brand new. Quick question for you gurus out there, i’m gonna run stock non-adjustable rockers for right now (with end stands obviously) would a .530 lift and nothing over 6k really cause any issues for me? I just can’t justify $1300 rockers right now when this build is already costing a fortune for me. Just an FYI, I noticed trick flow finally put up their cylinder heads for their FE’s finally, I had just looked about a week ago and they didn’t seem to have been for sale yet

I had also received my new floor pans from TabCo and they definitely seem to be very good quality. They sell panels as close to OEM size as possible so they delayed my shipment until they got more metal to make stampings, which I wouldn’t have had a problem with had they told me about it and not let me go without a single word on why I had to wait so long. Finally made a call to them and I got the problem resolved very quickly and parts came in quick too, with very helpful people there. I’ll be ordering from TabCo more now
