Back again, I contacted a large engine shop near me (they do EVERYTHING) and they will do a short block assembly including installing new cam bearings for $450, soon as I can get the time off I’m making a 90 mile trip to hopefully actually get this engine done

Sounds like that is a bargain! Are they using your parts?
Sorry about the pictures with the D**** moderators, but I got my pickup moved into my shop finally after I rented a 4000lb power tilt trailer with a winch. MAN did that trailer help wonders with loading a dead 4500 lb pickup. The ole 1500 hauled it surprisingly well too.
Bought this cap from Barry R online and it has apparently been bad from factory according to the shop. I’m so glad they caught it because it slipped my inspection before I brought it down.
The engine is back! Currently almost done with putting it back together besides my pickup tube and a head stud going missing some how. I was made aware of a bad connecting rod from the shop I had the short block work done at and boy was it bad
Hello. I was just wondering if there has been any updates with this engine?
Oh wow I completely forgot to keep everyone updated. I got the engine back built and it’s currently 95% assembled. I ran into financial issues due to my totaled “new” pickup in December and haven’t had money to get the other stuff I need to finish everything up on it so it’s currently sitting in my shop mocking me at the moment. Tax returns and my paycheck should help speed this process up soon
Wow you only had that truck for 3-4 months , hope no one was seriously injured.
We just upgraded a few weeks ago our selfs with the wife changing brands.
Still has her 01 Z71 for daily use but on nice days, events and trips we'll be tooling around in our slightly used 18 F-150 STX
Newest vehicle I've ever owned other than a brand new motorcycle back in 87.
Still have my 04 F-450 to do the heavy work with.
FYI, the Chevy dealer plate is no longer on the front, replaced it with a personalized plate.
But I will say they were very nice folk to deal with.
Okay guys! Pay day is tomorrow, I’ll be finishing up my ordering for a new water pump (I left mine outside and it got rusty), throwout bearing, a few miscellaneous bolts and a few other small things and other than how I’m going to take out my inner valve springs (I have dual) I’ve been deciding on fabbing a simple break in stand and buying the cheap tool to compress the springs (I’ll need to pull the heads, hence why if I go this route I’d like to break it in outside the pickup) or fabbing up a compression tool from my old rockers and being able to keep everything together with the help of an air compressor and put it in the pickup.
ALSO... does anyone know if anywhere is still selling the lengthened “pushrods” for the clutch fork?
