No updates as pf yet. Im going to try and get a few projects of my own done in the next few weeks. This is on top of the list since trailer season is upon us.
I'm so busy at work its near impossible to get to my own projects, I'm going to say this its a bigger project than first anticipated, Ill have to buy the second module, trim panel, and switches, that is of course if my truck even has the wiring for the second module. I guess I was fooling myself thinking it were going to be easier than its turned out to be.
thanks for the update- I was going to open mine up to see what I had to work with and stockpile parts awhile but...…….. I haven't done anything yet with it either.....
My main hold up is I cant get a straight answer if the wires are already in the harness to even make the camera work if I spent the money to buy all the parts. I know I need to add a module, and change the dash trim and add the switch. If you buy the CHMSL and harness your lights will operate normally but that's as solid as I get on the info. I hooked up my Zues Scan Tool to see if I could "see" the camera but I didn't get anything on the scanner.
I am still interested in this also. I have not dug deeper into it partly because of laptop issues and time.
I have asked a general question before but I will try to break it down a little further.
I have a 17 F250 SD XLT Premium 8" screen. It has the factory tailgate cam. I added the tailgate light. Simple plug and play.
I have the 5th wheel prep. On the drivers side frame above spare, I have the plugs for what I think would go to the add on trailer camera.
I have the trailer plug in the bed also. I want to add the chmsl camera. I got the chmsl and plugged it in. Nice bright light.
Is the "hard" camera toggle button on the dash necessary to switch between tailgate cam and the chmsl cam?
I found on the F150 spreadsheet under APIM line 71 through 79 shows the different configurations of the cameras--hard toggle enable/disable, soft toggle etc.
I have not found this looking through the super duty spreadsheet.
I MAY BE COMPLETELY WRONG BUT I would think if the soft toggle (on the touch screen) with tailgate and chmsl cam would be enabled that when the truck is put in reverse, the option to switch between cameras should appear on the touchscreen. If someone who has a super duty with just the tailgate cam and can navigate forscan would be willing to check to see if they can add the option to the screen might be helpful. If that could be added, it would be easy to pull drivers side rear pillar trim off and plug in chmsl cam to see if it works before removing headliner to install it. Check it out if your curious. Again I may be wrong, just curious myself.

Well, since I am interested in adding the CHMSL camera, on this rainy day I just went out to my truck with the FORscan application. I changed line 7D0-02-02 to enabling the soft toggle button and it did nothing on my truck to add anything, however it took away my zoom function and alert function on the screen while in reverse. By the way, I have a 2017 F250 XLT Premium with just the tailgate camera. Is this what you were asking someone to do?
Thanks for giving it a shot. Wishful thinking on my part that the module might be there since I had the 5th wheel prep pkg that maybe it could be activated through forscan then put the truck in reverse and the soft buttons would show on the touchscreen.
Thanks again for trying.

Sarge
Hey sarge I dont think you have to sweat the button on the dash or bezel. Unless I missed that you are also putting a camera on the grill then my apologies. The button on the dash as far as I know only operates the front view camera.
Im pretty sure you need the button on the dash to toggle between the tail gate camera and CHMSL camera. All the trucks Ive seen with these 2 cameras have the button on the bezel
