I too am having the issue with defaulting to FM and it seems to have started for me after the ver. 3 update. I guess no one has a solution?
I too am having this issue. It started after updating to 3.0 (JR3T-14G381-AL) from Ford Owner web site. At first it was defaulting to AM but after a week it started defaulting to FM (at least its not loud static) I exclusively listen to Sirius XM.
After the updated, I uploaded the required file back to Ford web site which now says "Your SYNC is up-to-date!"
On a separate note, for 2 weeks now my vehicle, which says ver 3.0, has been trying to update via wifi.
I have performed a soft reset and a hard reset and nothing has helped.

To stop the updating by wifi, just turn off "automatic updates". It won't ask you about joining networks anymore. Updates are so rare anyways, and this forum blows up with SYNC 3 threads whenever an update is available anyway. You won't be missing anything except the annoying pop-up.
I also have the "default to FM" syndrome. So this morning I used the Fordpass app to have a guide return my call. They transferred me to the In Vehicle Technology Team. I explained the issue, then was put on a brief hold while she researched the issue. The issue to Ford is no issue at all, she claims it is designed to default to FM across all of Ford Sync 3 systems, and it was simply a glitch that it was staying on Sirius in previous versions. According to this woman the only way to change this, is for many people to call in to complain and then it may get changed in a later version. Also according to this woman, there is no way to downgrade to a previous version. In case any of you would like to provide your feedback, the direct # to the In Vehicle Technology Team is 800-392-3673 then option 1 for English, option 3 for Sync, option 1 for Sync and option 2 for all other questions. I tested the options and you can press them fairly quickly without having to listen to the full option menu.
So I have the reverting to FM after the update but something else I have notice is my sound settings ie bass treble and mid keep going back to the middle. Has any one else checked that?
I've had the unofficial version of 3.0 for some months now, and have found two work arounds for the "default to FM" syndrome. Either way has it go straight back to Sirius, which is what I want.
The first is to turn off (mute) the audio prior to turning off the engine/ignition. Then if the audio is switched back on after a restart it'll go right to Sirius.
The second is to momentarily turn on the ignition (I don't have key-less start) and have it start playing Sirius before continuing to turn the key to the start position. The audio will shut off for a few seconds, but then come back with Sirius playing.
All that is a bit of a pain, and if I thought the official 3.0 release worked better I'd load it.
This is the message I got from the Ford Research Team and it worked for my truck.
Good morning, Michael. I wanted to reach back out to let you know that I have heard back from our research team. They advised that performing two subsequent master resets should correct the issue you had previously described to me. To do so please use the following instructions:
1. Perform a master reset.
2. Turn the vehicle off, wait 5 minutes.
3. Start the vehicle
4. Perform another master reset
5. Turn the vehicle off, wait 5 minutes.
Please let me know how this works for you.

I have a 2017 F250 Platinum and I updated, via the USB port, the official copy of the Sync 3 ver 3.0 about 3 weeks ago. I had been having problems with the truck starting up in FM when all I listen to is XM, but this seemed to have resolved itself over the last week and it seemed to be working just fine. However, this morning on my way to work, listening to XM, I heard a couple of beeps coming from the sound system. They sounded like small indication beeps when something is wanting attention, but there was no indication on the display so I ignored them. About halfway to work, the head unit display went weird, as seen in the attached picture. I'm not sure what happened. The unit seems to have some responsiveness, but I cannot get it to into any menu I recognize as everytime I touch it it does something then returns to the display in the picture. Has anyone seen this before? I searched through a great deal of the website here, as I've been reading almost every thread I think over the last year, but I have yet to see this issue. Any thoughts from those that more informed on this topic would be much appreciated.
Anyone have a link to the latest V3.0 that may solve some of these issues?
Also has anyone else had issues with their CHSML not zooming after this update? The rear camera zooms correctly. Just the CHSML camera zoom doesnt work.

Thanks,
Mine did the same but the screen eventually went to full blackout after a couple restarts. I disconnected both batteries and touched the cables together to dissipate all remaining current, waited 20 minutes or so, and reconnected. All was well again from there on out.

What a crock of cr@p. That's just flat out ignorant.

Wow, that's a pretty invasive fix, I'm pretty sure it would have never occurred to me to try this...THANK YOU for helping me out, I'm going to try that this weekend and see what happens. I appreciate the help.
