Sync 3 3.0 - Issues
#31
It's not a problem per say. It's this way on purpose. Once Ford gets a stable version running in your vehicle they don't want it to update unless there is a major change or issue with your current version. Updates an often cause more problems than they solve so to avoid warranty claims, Ford doesn't push these updates.

I can't seem to get the popup about connecting to WiFi to complete my Sync update to go away, even with WiFi turned off.
I think I have found a work around for the audio system defaulting to starting on FM even though I listen to Sirius and have Sirius on when I shut the truck off.
What I have found, and it may only work on mine, is if I don't immediately start the truck, but just turn on the ignition, the audio starts on Sirius. I then crank the key the rest of the way to start the truck. The audio is silent for several seconds, but then comes back with Sirius playing.
I've gotten into the habit of getting into the truck, turning on the ignition, reaching over to shut the door, then turning the key the rest of the way. So far so good....
Perhaps those with diesels and glow plugs start their engines that way anyway, but it was a minor behavior change for me.

That would be analogous to my observation that turning on the ignition with the key, but not immediately turning to the start position, has the audio play the sat radio that was on when engine was shut off, whereas immediately turning the key to start has it start on FM.
Not sure what those with keyless ignition would do - push the button without pressing on the brake pedal, confirming that sat radio comes on, then pushing again with the pedal depressed. Kinda awkward.
I agree, it is a mildly irritating problem!

Yes. I modified the posting to clarify. Using the key, FM is on. Using remote start, I defaults to XM where I left it.

I posted this theory in the Forscan thread and from the behavior of the popup, I believe it is the case. The WIFI message is on a 7 day clock. If your truck isn't able to connect to WIFI and check for updates for 7 days, you get the pop up. Those with good WIFI where they park won't get this message as the truck is able to check every time you park. To cure this you ether need to make sure you have good WIFI where you park, turn off auto updates, or manually search for updates once a week while in range of WIFI.
