Speaking as a former QA and software manager for a software company, you guys installing betas and prereleases on your production trucks are braver than me :-) Its not surprising to hear of deprecations of functionality, odd behaviors, and difficulties subsequently upgrading to official releases.
For those of us who are making decisions on whether to upgrade to the latest official release, can those of you reporting issues, please be absolutely clear in your posts on which specific official or unofficial release you are running, and whether you had upgraded from an unofficial release? History matters - upgrade testing of builds often omit paths which include unofficial builds, due to the sheer number of builds which never get promoted to official release.
The beta V3 was a lot more stable than the current official V3 I'm running now. I am going to try the new beta and hope it brings back some stability... LOL

Ahh, yes, the beautiful think about living in a free country ...
My official version 3.0 upgraded from the official version 2.3 is trying to download some type of file again. This happened once before, but I don't know if it ever finished the download. I assume some type of incremental update to address issue????

@Karl you are absolutely right. The prerelease what more stable then the current 3.0 release. Ive had CarPlay crashing on me at least once every couple of days. freezing up solid where I have to hard boot the system to get it back up.
It seemed to need a hard reboot John. Each time I shut down and restarted it would get worse. First I lost my NAV maps. Next I lost steering wheel controls and the ability to stream via BT. Last was the black screen. A master reset might have worked but with a black, unresponsive screen, there wasn't a way to do it. So, it was time to go back to basics. I pulled the plug...
Im not sure if everyone knows this...but holding down the power button and the next track button at the same time will hard boot the system. Solves a lot of my issues. If this is already know sorry

Not really sure what it is trying to do.
Common issue that will not go away unless you turn off auto updates.

I've been wondering how many folks hacking their vehicles are over-exuberant IT folks. I'm with you. With some things, there's no school like the old school.

More power to ya. For now, I've turned off auto updates and will sit on 3.0v2.3 until you beta testers have finished your work. I've taken more than a few arrows in the back while leading the charge :-)

I've never taken any. I guess I'm just lucky. I have taken arrows in the back from the official release though... Funny how anecdotal results mean nothing right?
By the way, what's 3.0V2.3? The latest official Sync 3 version is V3 build 18025.

Truck was delivered in June of last year with Sync3, version 2.2. After many months, my truck finally auto updated OTA from 2.2 to 2.3 only last night. Don't know why it took so long, I've tried several times in the last 2 months to get it to update. Nor do I know why it chose to update to 2.3 instead of 3.0 build 18025. I'll stay there until 3.0 stabilizes. Waze on the console, although cool, is not important enough for me right now to contend with the 3.0 instabilities.

Reason: minor clarification

True IT people would not be upgrading ***** nilly like that 😉.
