I have the plugs on the frame and so far not been able to get the lights to come on when I hit the unlock on the remote. Will test with meter tomorrow to make sure there is the correct power there.
Got everything installed, pretty simple. I'm a bit disappointed in the lisght output though. I used these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and they arent as bright as the description would lead you to believe.
Looks good though!
following since my stuff arrived today.
check the polarity - since its reported that the color coding (from the ford/factory side) is not conventional.
My parts came in yesterday & I got them installed last night. I’m very happy with the way they work. There’s a channel right at the bottom of the door openings, between the rubber weatherstrip & the pinch weld flange that’s smooth, flat & just the right width. The lights shine right down on the running boards & around/underneath the truck. Just wiped the channel area down with lacquer thinner, then peel & stick. Plugged them into the plugs on the frame & voila! Used these lights & the Metra plugs.
I'm bummed the connectors are not on my 2017 King Ranch. I had them on my 2011 XLT!
while the connectors are nice, you could pick up the power/feed from any number of places, including puddle lights, or the bed lights.
if you picked up the feed from the bed lights, then the under truck lighting would also turn on every time you turned the bed lights on (you decide if thats desirable or not).

where do you tie truck bed light near tailgate that has switch underneath?
also could you have both options....turns running lights on with door open and bed light switch turn them on. thx
I didn't like the look of the lights mounted to the frame (I have a carli 2.5" leveling kit) as I could actually see them when walking up (I zip tied them first to check).
I ended up mounting them to the lower cab just above the power running boards when folded.
Just make sure to fully clean the area with alcohol.
did you use any other silicone or tape to keep them up? how are they holding up there?
Black wire positive of COURSE. Thanks for the tip, my LED's work now. I used the same adhesive LED strip on amazon (16.5ft) But I also bought the strip of 3m adhesive double sided tape. Without that the LEDs would have never stuck as well. I attached them up around the bottom of the cab and you cannot see the strip standing outside the truck, just the glow off the running boards. I like the look of them and its a very cheap mod (<40$ total)
where did you get extra tape? how is it holding up?
The LED strip you used is different then many I've seen. Sems to have thicker edges to it. Did it come like that or did you add something in order to get the strip to adhere better?
I installed mine in the same location - a lot less obvious (only at certain angles can you see the individual LEDs on the strip).
Strapping them to the frame (especially firing down - will make the individual LED's VERY obvious, too obvious imo.
As an added measure of safety - i used some Aluminum FOIL Duct tape at the begging and end of each strip of LEDs - i was under the truck yesterday and saw no adhesion issues w/ the tape provided on the led strips themselves.
I used the foil duct tape several years a go to hold some lighting/wiring along the frame on my 2004 F350 - and it held for the entire time i had the truck (until a few months ago)....it has some unique adhesion characteristics (holds in extreme cold and higher temps/humidity)
