Question... How exactly does the power running board plug operate? Does power go to the plug when you lock/ unlock the truck and also when you open and close the door?
I have a 19 XLT and just saw that there is a black plug on the frame where some of yalls photos show.
Also, are these plugs all the same? Will the picture fit a 19 plug?
Finally got the LED lights wired up...connected to a NodeMCU running WLED to control the colors and attached to the truck...
Currently set to red/blue chasing.
I’m not a clutter it up mod guy, but this one is pretty good IMO.
I did this mod by purchasing the wiring mentioned above and then using submersible blue LED strips. https://www.t-toplights.com/product-...erproof-rating
So easy to do. I basically did the same installation. I ordered 6’ strips, cut the LEDs to the right length, and mounted them. To insure the strips won’t come off, I used a clear outdoor window silicone on side of the strips. Wiring was simple, and easy. I did loom everything.
Boards deploy, and lights come on. It now casts a sharp blue color that works with the puddle light.

I'm about to start a running board light project, and was curious if you guys know if any plug or wire that is easily accessible to tap into to have them come on when the doors are opened, or when the unlock on the remote is pressed, just like all of the other exterior lights.
I found this thread about 2013's, where they mentioned on their Lariat (or above I assume) there was a wiring plug underneath each rear door.
Do you know if we have anything like this easily accessible on our 2017's? I have an XLT premium, but doubt the premium added many extra wires like this.
I wired mine to the fog light connector on the driver's side behind the bumper. Easy splice.
thanks for pic I appriciate that. Now can I tap the wire it comes from ??? Lol
I sometimes have senior moments.
Can someone explain how this plug that is attached to the frame, comes from the factory with a blank plug, How to I get the blank plug out.
Very difficult for me to see under there when you wear bifocals
thanks in advance

It's not on every truck, you just have to find out whether or not it's on your truck. The blank is held in there just like a normal wiring harness would be. Press the tab on the connector, and the blank will slide out.
