I ordered both of these. For those who have used the Metra 72-5600 Ford Speaker Harness, did you have to grind off some of the corners to make it fit in the plug? That's what it looks like I am going to have to do to make it fit. I have a 2019 F250 XL.

You have to get it just right to plug in , but I didn't have to grind on mine .
Ok so I looked and no plugs. So here is my question for guys with the plugs. Where does the wire for the plug come from and can we no plug guys simply go to its source if you tell us where it comes from track the wires back. If one of you guys would do this and maybe show a pic of what you find I would be very great full
Got under the truck and it looks like it just goes straight up into the big line of wires that go to the rear of the truck. This is on the driver side.

Just went out and looked at the passenger side. It goes up to the top of the frame and links in with a bunch of other wires that lead back to the other side into the big tube. I think if your truck didn't come wired for them you're out of luck. Last ditch effort could be opening up the tubing where the wires should come out of and look for the colored wires, but then you'd have to make sure you sealed it up really good after.
Hello Ford Friends,
For those interested in where the wiring originates for the Running board lights. I went to my 2018 wiring diagrams book and found the source. It is the same circuit that powers the center high mounted cargo lights. Also in that circuit is left and right Scuff Plate lights and a Trailer assist light, possibly in the tailgate. I have not explored the options for wiring yet but depending on how Ford wired the trucks without the frame connectors it might be easy. Splicing into the wiring of C316 pin 34 seems sensible if the connector is outside the cab. seems to be on regular cab trucks but not sure on SC or CC. See the .pdf diagram attached for Ford's wiring.

I'm interested in adding my own bed LEDs.
Wonder if it would be worth it to try and tap into this "always hot" circuit? So it would function with the door lights.
How are these particular LED's holding up for you after a year and 8 months? I'm ready to pull the trigger on them, but reading through the reviews on them, a lot of people were having multiple dead LED lights in the strip after 1 year.

I ended up mounting them to the lower cab just above the power running boards when folded.
Just make sure to fully clean the area with alcohol.
go back yo post 149 and you can see my truck. Mine are marker lights on the running board bracket, not the same lights everyone is doing to light up the running boards

I added lights to my running board brackets this week along with raptor lights in the grill and the marker lights in the rear.
This looks great! Where did you get the extra bracket (part number or link) and how was it mounted? Are the ebay lights that you linked to, the exact ones that you used?

Bruce....
Yes, those are the lights I used. I got the extra running board brackets on eBay. Had to buy the set used but was able to resell what I didn't use. I'm sure you can get them from Ford but I never priced them new. Had to modify the top of the bracket to fit at that location, they mount on the bottom basically the same as the others on the truck.
I did the round smoked LED's. drilled a 3/4" hole in the 2 outer step brackets and wired/tapped into the respective taillight wires. With the smoked version, you can't really see when off or daytime.
Has anybody added that feature? I guessing that if I have those plugs on the frame rail and the factory box and overhead lights that the harness would be in the tailgate.
Thanks for the info in this post....I found the harness attached to my frame...confirmed that it got 12v power when I unlocked the doors...So I began to undertake the process.
Since I have been also playing with addressable LED's for house Christmas lights...I figured I would try and make the same lights work under my truck attached to the running board lights...
Here is a pic with the lights I'm using...the the link shows a small clip of the lights changing colors...
