I managed to shave a sliver off the o-ring on the same fitting when I first installed it. Took a while to migrate south and show up in the driveway, and it gradually got worse. Thankfully, a quick fix.
Oil-absorbent cloth cut into 1/2" strips and tied around the base of each fitting you've played with will not only give you a tattletale, but will keep from filling the valley with oil before you see it. That's my best practice now.
I'm going for the old style hydraulic style hose fittings when I take anything apart on top of the engine again. I hate the STC fittings Ford put in there.
Me too! Of course that wouldn’t have fixed my shaving part of the o-ring off when installing these.

If you have the extra money, DEFINITELY get the Banks exhaust, you wont ever be sorry for it. I've been buying Banks products for years and they are by far the highest quality aftermarket parts you will find. I put MBRP on mine for budget purposes and while it has lasted a fair amount of time, fitment was trash and the pipe rotted out on the seam. Most has been replaced already...... My next purchase for my truck will be a Banks exhaust, as I put on my fathers truck and my old 97 crew 350. Others may look nice in the pics but Banks is the closest to OEM you will find. No, I dont work for them, no, they dont pay me, they're just good parts, period.

I can't speak to their exhaust products, but some of the stuff I've seen repair shops fixing on other Banks products show me they are far from the highest quality in parts. I wish I could remember the parts in question, for the products in question, but at the time I just committed to memory that I was correct in not ever paying for their overpriced parts.

Also remember that these are aftermarket parts usually being put on by a consumer. The shop fixing something may be in regards to improper installation or even the incorrect part/assy applied or purchased. Again, I have not had any issue with any Ford truck part/assembly from them and I have spent, and helped spend, thousands on Banks parts. To each his own.....
From my perspective, many people swear by a Dodge truck, personally, I would rather walk than get in one of those heaps. Its all experience of satisfaction. You dont like Banks, dont buy it. I wont buy MBRP again. Call it even.

I actually used to like Banks products until I got schooled and shown some the collection of inferior "connector parts" (best way I can describe it with my lacking memory) that had been used by Banks, that the repair shop was trying to fix.
This was a few years ago, so obviously my reasons for not buying Banks may no longer even be valid, but it was easy for me to come to my conclusion when I saw the parts that had failed, and how easy it would have been to put in a better quality part, especially because of how expensive his products are priced at. The fact that he dislikes Ford doesn't make me wanna give him money either.

And did we mention WAY overpriced? I used the Stinger Pack on a Dodge Cummins I owned some years ago. I wish I had known better. I paid way too much and the results were mediocre at best.
I bought a Big Head wastegate controller last year. OEM was not worth the money and the BH wasn't much more than other options. Plus Banks has CARB certifications so I could pass my smog test.
Unfortunately my Big Head did not come with a sticker in the box so I didn't get an extra 15 HP.
Don’t know if it’s related to any of my recent work, but my Ex went 660 miles before the fuel light came on. The best I’ve had in the last 14k miles had been 605. My 660 tank was all commute to work, so no highway miles.

Not trying to one-up you at all, but mine routinely goes 850 miles before the light comes on. I drive all highway miles at 65 mph, though...and I do mean ALL highway miles.
