Pete, the lit says the TPMS is incompatible with steel carcass tires, not radials. Big difference. That said, I'm pretty sure it will be fine with steel carcass tires as well.

Rodney, I know we've both agreed on this point already. I would certainly think that, by now, somebody out there on this forum has installed the TPMS in steel tires and could give us an update, wouldn't you?
This option is a waste of money. I ordered it on my 17 F 350 and have not gotten it hooked up yet. The camera is now installed from the rear to the kin pin on my 5th wheel. The first problem is the under bumper pigtail to plug the the system into is short and will not reach into the bed to plug in the same location as the 7 pin RV plug. After taking the tires off of my trailer and going to the local Ford dealer I found out thrat the TPMS stems are made for .453 diameter stem holes, my trailer has .625.

They make extensions in various lengths for the wiring harness. The valve stems can be removed from the sensors and changed to .625 for very little cost as well.
The only pic I've seen is one where the guy tied a loop up to under the pinbox and then down into the bumper plug. I'm sure a savvy owner could relocate the plug into the bed but personally, I wouldn't be one to start soldering and extending wires on a new truck. Nor would I be comfortable cutting the hole larger to accommodate it somehow in the bed. Lots of guys have these skills. I'm just not one of them...
Found this link for those looking for cable extensions, Y harness, and mounting hardware for inside the box mounted plugs. Just have to buy an additional trailer/camera plug at the dealer.

Once the weather gets nicer here, I will be installing an additional 7&12pin plug box (NM&W) and Plug (Dealer Item) in the truck bed with a 12 pin wire harness Y, and 10' extension cable (NM&W) on my 2013 voltage 3950. The trailer came with a wireless cam system( Junk ) that after one year became water bound and ruined the camera. I did not have issues with the high mount. It looked straight down and out far enough to see tree branches, etc. The rear Ramp and awning did not seem to get in the way at all. I could see exactly where I needed to stop in the view finder. So to that point, I intend to mount the camera in the same position. I will try to document the install with pics and post how it goes. Plugging the camera into the truck without having it mounted shows an amazing picture compared to the wireless system used prior. Plus no additional screen hanging from the windshield!
I also ordered this kit with my truck. Going to install it onto my 43' toyhauler. I am a bit concerned as there is no clean & easy way to run all the wires, as I am crazy picky/particular on how things get done. I'll probably run the cables inside the toy hauler as far forward as possible, then down through the floor, then under the trailer to the front. Not sure yet how I will get it from the underside at the front, up to the actual kingpin area as I can't stand dangling/hanging wires.

On a couple of past trailers I ran EMT (conduit) and fastened it to the frame to run wiring from front to rear. Second method is to consolidate wiring in plastic split wiring harness material and wrap with vinyl tape, then attach to the frame every 18" or so and it will stay neat and where you place it. A little effort but worth having the wires out of sight.

Agreed, but the part I am worried about the most is from the underside (frame rail) up to the actual kingpin area where the OEM wiring is.
For those with the TPMS, has the dealer been installing the sensors for you at no additional charge? I discussed this with my dealer and they are going to get back to me on Monday as to whether or not they will cover it.
I know Steve is going to give it a try as soon as hit truck lands, but I was wondering if anyone had tried the sensors on steel carcass tires yet like the GY 614's or Sailun S637's? Ford says they are incompatible but that makes no sense to me. I was hoping someone had given it a go and could post results?
