Good deal! Most places have a minimum service charge no matter how simple the task.

gotroxs,

Please update us when you get the additional sensors as to whether or not they are the right item. I ordered the kit with my '17, but it's still weeks or months away. I will need two additional sensors as well.

I don't own a toy hauler but what is stopping someone from mounting the camera up three feet. Even if the door fold down it is not flat on the ground close to the pivot point. You would have to pay attention to where you unload but it should work just fine there. Or you could create a cradle to protect it if you felt better. Just one though outside the box.

Oh, sure you could Rob. It would just look like hell and have a wire dangling down the door.

Actually Rodney, I think Rob is onto something. Ever since your post about keeping the camera low, I've been mulling this over. I have a couple of possible approaches I want to explore once the weather breaks around here.

One would be top attach a 2-3 ft piece of white wire mold to the center of the ramp door, running from the bumper up to the camera mount. Another would be to install weather tight fittings at the bottom center of the ramp and again at the camera position and chase the cable up inside the ramp, assuming I can get to it.

I would bring the cable through a protected hole in the bumper, offset by a couple of inches to provide a low stress hinge effect for the cable.

What do you think?

I guess. I know on mine with full paint, it would stick out like a sore thumb. I still think it wouldn't look good either way though. There's no downside to just mounting to the frame above the license plate in my mind.

And further, would it not be reasonable to expect that this work should be considered as a part of the purchase price of the truck?

There is no way I'm letting my dealer anywhere near my RV when it comes to wiring or installing the camera, but I know they already know how to change tires.

Thoughts gentlemen?
But do they know how to NOT jack an RV so as to not damage the axles.

Steve could always bring in the wheels and tires himself. Or, if his RV has the Lippert 6 Point Level Up system, it's super easy to lift the rig without any jacking at all. Put it in manual mode and press the up button. You just have to do one side at a time or you'll flip the suspension hardware. Not the end of the world as it's a simple fix. You just raise the front of the RV all the way and it will flip back. Cover your ears when it does as it sounds like a gunshot. LOL. However, to avoid that, just do one side at a time.

The parking lot at my dealer is a nightmare. There is absolutely no way I could maneuver my 22' trailer into their lot. I swear, it's like they have set up a gauntlet to see how many new cars someone can hit.

Yes, we have the LCI system. I discovered by accident that it could lift one side of the rig off the ground. Our driveway is too short to back the unit in, but it is a three bay garage and the driveway is wide enough to put it in crossways. The first time we brought it home, I backed it crossways onto the driveway, which slopes a fair bit from the garage to the street. When I started up the LCI self leveler, it just raised the three street side tires about 8 inches in the air. Boy was I impressed.

It's meant to do that Steve. We have been on countless campsites where the wheels are off the ground on one side after leveling. It's completely normal.

Oh, indeed. You should have seen mine when I had all six off the ground to take the wheels to get my GY G614's mounted up. I felt like Houdini... and a little scared...

I've been following this thread. I've got a 2017 F-350 and purchased the TPMS. It came with the truck in a box. I had the dealer include the install for the 5er as part of the purchase. I don't get the 5er (a 40'er) until Feb and I've been hoping someone had already done the install of the TPMS and camera so that I could learn how it all worked. I'll be sure to post pics when I get it done. I'm especially interested to see if the TPMS picks up with radial tires on aluminum rims. The literature says it doesn't work with radials, but my truck has radials and they have working systems so....
With a 40' 5er (not a toy hauler so no ramp to worry about) and the literature stating 32' trailer for the camera, I especially like the idea of mounting on the bumper/license plate to get the extra distance.
I'll keep following this thread, and hope someone beats me to the install.
Thanks for all the ideas.

Pete
