Does anyone know if ford is working on a fix for the trailer camera to be used on a gooseneck? Currently you can only plug in trailer camera is on bumper not in bed. Also when gooseneck is plugged in the blind spot warning is deactivated.
I talked to Ford rep at Homestead race and he said they were working on it realized it was an issue. Asked if it would be in job 2 he would not say yes or no.
My dealer mailed me the kit. Just got it about an hour ago.
There are only 4 sensors in the kit. I need to find more since I have 6 tires. Attached is a picture of the sensor and a close up with the part # on it.
gotroxs,
I know it's been posted somewhere previously, but I can't find it. Do the instructions that came with your TPMS kit provide any specs on wheel configurations that are compatible with the sensor? I'm thinking thickness and hole diameter.
The fact that it only plugs into your bumper and not in bed with the 5ver plug killed it for me...
Well there's that problem and then the other problem that the camera is only useful when the truck is in reverse. Another gripe is that since it replaces the OEM 4 wire plug you have to use an adapter (or whatever it's called) to plug in a 4 wire trailer. About the only thing I can think of it has going for it is that the camera feed is visible through the Sync screen. It's nice not to have a second monitor hanging off the dash somewhere. I'm holding out for someone to figure out how to display the video whenever needed and how to add a second camera.

Thanks.
I can always measure this for you later today possibly. I'm more interested in max pressure spec if you find a spec-sheet in your hunting somewhere, my triple axle trailer runs 100psi in the tires and I'm wondering if they took the TPMS out of the 450 Dually due to the higher pressures than the 17in on the 350's.

The only pic I've seen is one where the guy tied a loop up to under the pinbox and then down into the bumper plug. I'm sure a savvy owner could relocate the plug into the bed but personally, I wouldn't be one to start soldering and extending wires on a new truck. Nor would I be comfortable cutting the hole larger to accommodate it somehow in the bed. Lots of guys have these skills. I'm just not one of them...

The loop under the pin box would work. Overall this is not a well thought out setup.
I agree. It could be done neater than the pic I saw too. He just had it coming out directly from under the front of the RV. If I got the option, I'd sneak it up through the genset compartment in the front, then under the fiberglass under the nose, and out at the pinbox area. That would avoid needing the loop and look a lot cleaner. You'd still need to plug to two different areas and have to keep the camera umbilical from scratching your tailgate as it runs down to the bumper somehow though.
The routing Rodney is describing is what I've been planning for mine when my '17 finally gets here. However, I have an additional problem. The primary camera cable that is intended to run from the camera to the front of the trailer is 49 ft long. Ford says it is intended for trailers up to 35 ft in length. I'm guessing they intend it to be run underneath a trailer and then up the back.
My 5ver is 43 ft overall. I had intended to run the cable from the gen compartment along a frame rail, up through the inside of the garage in a rear corner next to the ramp door, and then out to its location at the top center of the rear of the trailer. I'm pretty confident 49 ft doesn't let me do that. This cable is supposed to connect to a "trailer connector docking station" and then there is a second 15 ft cable that goes to the truck. The second cable contains wiring for both the TPMS and the camera.
So the question is, if 49 + 15 isn't long enough, then what? Can you lengthen the main camera cable? From the looks of the connector it seems obvious to me that this must be a digital signal as there certainly are no provisions for coax. That would imply to me that it could be lengthened some, and probably without signal degradation. But I just don't know.
If you can use one extension, I'm thinking you can use two? However, what I was going to do was mount mine low above the license plate for a better viewing angle. More like a car. My wireless one is up at the top in the back. It's too high and doesn't give the correct feel when using it. It's also partially obscured by the rear patio cassette awning. If I ever decide to do the Ford system, mine will be mounted low so it will feel like like a regular vehicle back up camera. It will also prevent the wire from showing where it would have to run up the rig to get to the high point in the back...
