It's on the way that's the good part . You are not going to be disappointed this truck is unbelievable. I've only got 80 miles on mine so far but it's awesome for sure.

Question for you guys, as many of you are better versed in the build process than I. I placed a handshake order (with no guarantess I wouldn't find a truck sooner) three weeks ago for a Lariat 6.7L CC. I am not patient, and have been shopping around while I wait. Today I called the dealership I ordered from to let them know I had a few good offers, and was considering a different truck. Well, they just called me a few mins ago, and the assistant sales manager there said tracking my order shows the truck is being built now, and he would think 5-6 weeks at the latest until it is here. With that, I asked if there was a vin, and he said not yet. Does that seem odd? Shouldn't there be a vin number before the build starts?

That is odd, there should be a VIN. Sounds like he doesn't want to lose a sale, so he is saying what you want to hear.

If it is in production there will be a VIN (number is redundant). If the dealer cannot produce it he is lying to you that it is in production. If it is in production you should also have an ETA, not "5 or six weeks it should be here." If you like your deal, march in and present these facts to him. If he cannot give you a good response, march back out and find another dealer. If this truck shows before another deal then maybe take it with both eyes wide open! I would seriously consider having an X plan in your pocket and look for another dealer.

If you have just your order number, dealer number (Fxxxxx) and last name go into Ford Chat or customer service (if they are back up) at 800-392-3673 and check you status. They should also be able to provide the VIN for you as well, assuming it has been issued.

Good call on using Ford Chat. They said order is "still in processing"

Mine has been processing over 6 months now. I would thing they would figure out how to process it by now. So hang in there Patrick. But I would still call the dealer out and explain to him that you have more knowledge available to you than he will ever have, except his computer does connect directly to Ford, for whatever that is worth.

Mine is "in processing" as well according to chat, even though I have a VIN, and per my dealer, I have a build date/week of 11/21... For some reason, chat appears not allowed to tell you info about build date..

That's normal with chat. I would check chat after the 21st and then the updates start updating more frequently.

My window sticker appeared yesterday, 11/1/16. I contacted Chat today and "Mike" told me that my vehicle is "in production" as of today. ETA to dealership has moved back to 11/19 now.
