Ordered 08/02
Built 10/19
Chat says in production with an ETA of 11/08 (tomorrow) WTF Ford. I'd think they'd want to get these retail orders to the dealers ASAP and sold so they're not sitting on them. At least come up with a better way to track these orders and get them out off the dock.

I guess I'm not following along here. You're looking at approximately 3 months from order to delivery - are you saying that's too long to have to wait? My dealer told me to realistically expect 90-120 days from order to delivery. Seems 90 days is better timing than most are having to wait for their ordered trucks.

My status as of this morning's Chat session:

Ordered 8/31
Built 11/4
ETA 11/28 (about 3 months)

Ford Chat

I use this link: Live Chat

Some say they access on at the end of the build pages on ford.com site.

My order was in processing 9/6, dealer has no clue, contact ford via chat a few times a week, no change really. Last Saturday said its in production, yesterday they said nope, back to order processing and we will create an escalation ticket and have a supervisor contacting you in 48 hours.

I knew it would take a long time but thought I would receive some status with context weekly if things were running slow. I think they are having some challenges getting SD production up and running.

And no, not giving up, no you can not take my truck/spot in line.

I did find this on the F-150 Forum: link by Rich33Y, I think its relivant for SD orders too:

Disclaimer: I am not an expert at any of this. My knowledge comes from staring at COTUS and reading these forums for the past month. There wasn’t even a Holiday Inn Express involved. If edits or updates are needed, let me know.

*****************

The 2 pieces of information you need to start tracking your order are the Order# and Dealer Code#. They should be at the top of the paperwork you received from the dealer.

Depending on the type of order you placed (A/Z/X or Retail) and what system your dealer is using, you could have one of 3 different pieces of paperwork (that I know of).

Order Summary:
Order# is top left
Dealer Code is top right, labeled “Sales Code”
If the Sales Code has a letter in the middle or at the end, remove it before using in COTUS. Example: Sales Code - F48419H would be a COTUS Dealer Code of F48419

Vehicle Order Confirmation: This is the old system (and the easiest)
Order# top left
Dealer Code top right

DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement):
Order# is after the phrase “BEGIN ORD”
Dealer# is just above that, before dealer name.
If the dealer number has a letter in the middle or at the end, remove it before using in COTUS and place an ‘F’ before it. Example: 48H419 would be a COTUS Dealer Code of F48419

More on DORA: If you are purchasing A/Z/Xplan the dealer HAS to give you the DORA. This shows that not only did your dealer place the order, but they had allotments and Ford has agreed to build the truck. It will also show you your exact A/Z/X price. If you are purchasing retail, some dealers don’t like to share this because it has invoice prices listed.(just go to Edmunds.com and it will show you invoice prices)
DEALER # can also befound at:
US Orders: Locate a Dealer | fleet.ford.com
Canadian Orders: Ford Find a Dealer - Ford Cars, SUVs, Trucks & Crossovers | Ford.ca

VIN# - This will show up in COTUS and can also be obtained from your dealer, usually within a couple of weeks of ordering. When a VIN is assigned, the dealer should also be able to give you a BUILD WEEK

BUILD DATE: At a minimum this should be available a few weeks before build week. Get this from your dealer or by sending a Private Message (PM) to FordService on this Forum (US Customers). Canadian Orders try FordServiceCA for the PM.

COTUS Ford Custom Order Tracking | ordertracking.ford.com
NOTE: At this time COTUS is still in testing and development (beta). It’s not perfect and you will wear out your keyboard/mouse hitting refresh hoping for a change. Sometimes not all of the options you ordered show up in COTUS, relax, it’s normal.
After you have your Order# and Dealer#, you can track your order in COTUS. Sometimes it takes several days for a new order to show up. The ETA is only an estimate, read the footnote.

IN ORDER PROCESSING : This is often referred to as the First Ring of Hell because of the wait. It’s basically Ford’s time to make certain they have the necessary components and herd your order and parts to the starting line. This step could take several weeks, or if a component you ordered isn’t available, maybe longer.

IN PRODUCTION: COTUS will make this change 6-10 days before your build date. A link will show up in COTUS that lets you view your window sticker, the sticker might take a day or two to fill in properly. For a window sticker explanation see: ANSWERED: Window sticker: Explained - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

After production COTUS sometimes jumps to DELIVERED for a few days before it moves back to AWAITING SHIPMENT or IN TRANSIT. Don’t freak out,it just does that to boost sales of Xanex.

IN TRANSIT: When it moves to ‘IN TRANSIT’, the ETA will disappear.
If your truck is being shipped by rail, you may be able to track it using this information: Tracking Thread!! VIN's with Build Dates - Page 87 - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

If your truck is being shipped over the road, you’re flying blind and there’s not any way for you or your dealer to locate it.

DELIVERED: This means check your voice mail and break out the cocktails!!!

ETIS: Electronic Technical Information System

ETIS contains lots of useful information about your truck AFTER it’s built. You’ll need your VIN# to access ETIS. Before your truck is built, the ETIS build date is only a placeholder, something like 30.11.0002. It means nothing so don’t waste time trying to decipher it.

Ok ETIS indicates my truck was built Yesterday 11/7/2016. My ETA is 11/21. Let's see if they can get it to my dealer in 2 weeks. I'm not holding my breath.

Another fine day at Ford. Yesterday chat said my truck was awaiting shipment. Hurray. Went to the dealer in the afternoon and visibility still showed the truck as processing. Went back to chat it showed in production, last night and again this morning. ETA went from 4 Dec to 21 Nov now back to 4 Dec. Called customer service again and they indicated the truck might not be built until 28Nov but still maintained 04Dec ETA. This scheduling and information system should be managed in Chappaqua. Even they could do a better job.

If it were processed in Chappaqua the order would have been completely deleted!

Now that new direct link to chat that was posted today took me to a Phylichia person. That's different. Usually it's Tara-Kay, Mike, Bruce, Jennifer or Christina. TIA has been MIA since the hurricane. New ETA of 11/11, it was 11/12 yesterday. Truck has been unloaded from the rail car so it's in the hands of trucking company now. Do Teamsters still run the car haulers?

Rob - I told you that you were going to have to wait for my truck! Just got my ETA tonight - Dec 5th. I bet they'll be on the same truck. Drop yours off one day, spend the night in Syracuse, and drop mine the following day...

That would be my honor to have the trucks on the same transport, but given my track record with Ford you might hope yours comes first, lest it is delayed for some unknown other reason. But there is hope they will get here eventually!!

Just so you guys know, your trucks might not get dropped at the Buffalo railyard. My F150 was dropped there and trucked to Ogdensburg, but the Super Duty actually stopped in Buffalo then continued on to Selkirk to be unloaded. Now I wait until it gets on a truck to go to Carthage.

That is a possibility. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Ford shipped mine to Seattle and then trucked it back. LOL
