Good morning everybody!
Today I'm taking out Ka'Bluey's instrument cluster and removing the blue filter that gives the gauges that blue look at night with the lights on and putting in fresh bulbs so I can see nice bright gauges instead of what I have now.
I did get a phone call from the potential job, only to be told that their "Trainer" sent me forms that have been up dated, and I need to fill everything out again with the proper forms.
I also found out that the job pay's purely commission with no guarantee, and six, eight hour day's for what could be less money, not wild about that either. It really isn't easy getting off of Long Term Disability, and I want to go back to work, but sure can't do it for what could end up being for less money.
I got outside since it did get dark to see how my instrument cluster lights up now with a couple of new bulbs, and those blue filters removed. And it is brighter, but I still have a couple of lights that aren't working.
I may need to get that DVOM out tomorrow and see what I missed.
Since you got so much practice pulling those clusters, you can swing by and fix the bulbs on my 97....
Maybe even fix the worm gear on the odometer while it's apart.
You bring the truck this way, and we'll talk.
But that 97 really isn't bad to do, I had the instrument cluster out in a few minutes on my 01 F150. I also found out that on that truck, the truck won't run with the cluster unplugged. It must complete a loop in the wiring.

I did get all of my dash lights working yesterday. Still not as bright as I'd like, but with new bulbs, and the blue filters removed, it's way brighter than they were.
May get some Blue LED's off of Amazon later.
Today my goal is to relocate the 37" spare tire that is right behind the cab, and between the stacks, and to mount it to a bed rail, one side or the other. I could actually use my rear view mirror that way too. Then I'm hoping to mount the tool box I got from Kurt just behind the stacks.
The bed is wider than the tool box is, so I may end up looking for some flat stock between the top of the bed rails and the tool box.
So far I'm having a really good day
I've managed to get the spare tire moved, and the tool box mounted
Next, is to see if I can get the horn working. But first.....I need a horn
I do finally have me the center section to the salvage yard steering wheel that I'm using. One of our go to guys back in Missouri is sending me one, and should be here in the next few days. (Thanks again Rich)
Looking good Bob. Finally got back to the shop and got the front of the jeep on stands and started looking for the noise culprit. Saw a couple of things, but nothing that seriously points to the potential issue. So going to take another look this weekend. At least it's out from all this pollen.
My center piece for the horn showed up today.
Al the way from Dunnegan Missouri
I "had" a box of junk, and in it we're several horns, light covers, switch's etc. I can't find it anyplace, so I went to Autozone, because it's just minutes from the house.
I got what is supposed to be a LOUD horn. A goose getting kicked in the nads makes more noise than this thing does.
So, in you junk piles, if you have a horn or two that really do make some noise, let me know. I'm looking for another good one, or two.
Ever seen the guts of a Samsung Blue Ray DVD player
There really isn't much in there.
It failed the bounce test, from our front porch, to the sidewalk. I bet it won't go on-line now either
