There isn't a TSB, only SSM that is listed in the thread earlier.

Demand that he look up in Oasis your truck by VIN. He will see it unless he is blind.

From my Ford Service Manager

The manager gave me a print that contained this information:

At the bottom of the print out, there is a web address (but you need an ID and password to access it):

http://www.fordtechservice.dealercon...1FMPU16LC00001

16808 - 2003 Expedition/Navigator - Accumulation of Brake Dust on Wheels

Under regular operating conditions, customers may notice accumulation of brake dust on wheel of their 2003 Expedition/Navigator vehicles. Some amount of brake dust is inevitable as brakes wear. Dust can be cleaned by weekly washing with motorcraft detail wash (ZC-3_a) and a soft sponge. Heavier deposits can be removed with motorcraft wheel and tire cleaner (ZC-37-A). A low-dust service brake lining (pad) is being developed via the quicker service fix (QSF) process for customers who may find this accumulation objectionable. The new lining is expected to be available during the late fourth quarter of 2003. Do not replace any components in an attempt to address this condition in the interim until the new lining is available.

As of 11/10/03, my local ford dealer manager said there has been no update on the new pads...

It's most likely going to be between Thanksgiving and Christmas sometime.

This detailed information is great ammunition to take to the dealer.

I just got a call from Ford Canada to discuss the poor rating I gave them for quality in a survey they sent me.

We discussed the break dust issue and the first thing he said was "It's normal and there's nothing we can do about it".

Now that's a call center jockey asking canned questions, but it seems that the first answer from everyone is "it's normal".

Thank goodness for this web site and the ability to share this kind of information easily.

Question How?

Okay, so has anyone had this done yet? And if you have how'd you get it done? Just call up your dealer, tell them the TSP # and away you go?

Alex...

No, the new pads arn't available yet. Call your dealer every week or so and ask if the new pads are available for the 03 Expedition. If they are clueless tell them to look on Oasis and see the special service message for instructions.

Purchased a new 04 EB expy last friday. Drove it this weekend for about 250 miles and the rims were full of brake dust. At this rate I'll have to clean the wheels every couple of days!!! Everything else is good...Love the truck so far...

Welcome to the club.

We're half way through the 4th quarter. Anyone have any luck getting their pads changed by Ford?

My truck is in the shop right now. 6th day so far. I told them to change the pads and when I called for status updates they didn't list the pads as not completed.

So I'm assuming that they have changed them.

I had a wheel replaced on my '03 EXPY FX4 this past Friday (due to the well known shake), and the manager still had no updates on the replacement pads. He said, by Christmas. But the shake is now gone!

Just called my dealer to enquire about the new pads. What a surprise, he said they aren't in yet. Has anyone had any luck with the replacement?

From what i have hear the EBC Green stufff and Red stuff brake pads are som of the best out there. I havent heard much on the carbon fiber brakes but am interested. I completely agree that going cheap on brakes and tires puts everyone at risk. I understand you guys would like this service to be under warrenty but why not just go ahead and buy a better aftermarket pair?

For $38K, Ford needs to make it right. Our frustration is with the brake dust, not the brake performance.
