the early 6.7’s had various engine problems...no recalls were done...but in 2015 ford released the gen 2 6.7 which included a lot of fixes for 2011-2014 6.7 problems.
I surely hope so. I just bought a new but leftover '19 F250 with a 6.7 about three weeks ago and this thread isn't exactly what I'd call reassuring. I did buy an extended warranty (out to 7 years) and a service package offered by the dealer.
Was seriously considering the '20, but reasoned that the new generation of any vehicle/drive train is more prone to such issues. The '20 features some engine changes aside from the increased HP and torque specs. And a new 10 speed tranny is replacing the 6 speed, which I assume has been around for awhile and is fairly well proven. I typically buy a new vehicle, spend a lot of money on it and then drive it for 20 years or more, or for as long as it continues to serve my purposes, which ever comes first.
It's truly sad that Ford didn't step up to the plate and help those out who've had problems. They could have at least offered a pro-rated engine replacement.
Every automaker will try not to warranty things like this. I do however think that Ford should step up in cases like this. It would go a long way in keeping customers. If you took care of the truck and didn't tune the truck than you have a problem with something like a broken crank. They should offer to help with the cost. I bet his dealer didn't ask if ford would help with the cost. I know they can in some cases.
Wow, an old thread that has a life here in 2020. I haven’t been on this forum in a while now. Last thread like this I recall was with many people freaking out about the possible fuel issue. Lucky to say that went well and I filled up anywhere.
March 2018 I got rid of my 2011 F250 and upgraded to the more current 6.7. Only reason was because my thermostat went bad and I knew I was getting close to 100,000 miles.
still loved my old truck and this 18 version even more. Feel bad for the OP, good luck.
