Hey realsharp100, glad you are original and stayed with your thread. People sometimes jump on here and try to stir up a conversation with their first post or 2 and then leave the thread hanging. Sorry about your truck as it does interest me as I have a 2011. Keeping an eye on this thread for sure.

This forum has always helped me diagnose, buy, and maintain my Ford vehicles. Congrats to the folks with early builds that have the ESP, but I don't......No issues with my truck now at 115,000, but this "new" found problem to me is causing a bit of grief. I'm usually the type to not worry too much, but I haven't seen one post from an early build that has say 150,000 miles and no valve issues. Can we please get as posts from guys with EARLY builds before 29-Mar-2010, and at least 150,000.

I have no idea how many trucks were built and sold prior to that time, but I should could use some reassurance, since I bought this truck with the intent for it to last for 300,000 and no major engine failures.

Thanks!

Hey, Brian!

I'm glad to see that you have PM access now; I just sent you a message this morning.

As an FYI for everyone else following this thread, my supervisor has been in contact with the administrator of this forum regarding the inability of new members to send PMs. Due to privacy concerns, we can't have folks sending me the private information of other members, so we've received permission to have new members send their information to a generic Ford email address that I can then go out and retrieve. This way we can hopefully cut down on the wait time that new users experience when they need my help. Let me know if you have any questions!

cool.. and in future notices to user, you would add a sentence

'if you do not yet have ability to send private messages, you can send an email with the info to .....@zzz.yyy'

right?

right?
Absolutely, Sam. We'd still prefer people to reach out to me via PM since I monitor that inbox daily, so new users will be temporarily directed to custserv@ford.com. I do not monitor that email address daily; anyone reaching out to me that way will be instructed to include my name (such as "To Crystal") in the subject line and mention in their public post that there's an email waiting for me.

So what's the reason behind the new heads? Couldn't you just replace the valves and glow plugs?

Update

Crystal just informed me that there is nothing they can or will do about the defective valves in the 2011 6.7 engines and my engine. I have been sick to my stomach for three weeks now and I will never own another Ford product again. I understand stuff happens but when a manufacturer knows about something like this u would think there would be some options. I guess this is why Ford didnt need the bailout from US. They stick it to guys like me and that helps there bottom line. In a sick way I guess it is somewhat my fault. I should have gotten rid of it at 99,000 and let someone else take a gigantic bath on it. Then that guy would be the guy saying he will never buy another Ford!!!!!!

Golfgooroo.

U better get rid of that thing asap! I was in the same boat as you. I wanted this truck to last me at least 200,000 miles. Especially when Ford claimes these engines were tested to 300,000 before they released them. That was the only reason I purchased it. My truck had 0 issues before it broke a valve. They are ticking time bombs. I have not heard of anyone that has over 200,000 on those engines in that build date. I do know a guy that broke a valve at 40,000 and he now has 200,000 on it but that is the updated engine. Put it for sale before everyone realizes not to but the 11 6.7's

It sucks that this happened to you. I get that you will never purchase another Ford product. Good luck with your next vehicle.

Had you been a member here earlier, you would have gotten sick of all the posts by long term FTE members about the 2011 6.7L problem and how most people should have insurance over this truck because when bad things happen, this truck can be very expensive to fix. Plenty of insurance products were available to you. Dumping a truck prior to running out of warranty is a great plan. Running any brand diesels without warranty coverage seems like a bad plan for most. I wouldn't own a Ram or GM diesel truck without an insurance product either.

Correct me if I am wrong, but most insurance companies will not insure/warranty repairs of this nature on vehicles over 100K miles. I have looked into a few different options for my vehicles, but it seems that 100K miles is the magic number to be under.

When a ford mechanic posts a warning video about a known serious vulnerability
in their early 6.7 design, this response from ford is disgusting.
Yes I know, they are two separate issues, valves and glowplugs but, come on ford!
Help these people out.
This type of cost can literally TANK a family financially.
