Read the fine print on the contract. Most of the time, that is not stated anywhere on the contract, and the sales team will tell you that so they get their commission. I have always taken the incentives, and then refinanced with my credit union before the first payment is due. Congrats on the new truck!
Exactly right Doug. I wanted to buy my truck cash but I wanted the extra Ford Motor Credit rebate. My dealer said the same thing about keeping the account open three months. The reason, I found out, is if you pay it off before three months, the dealership looses it's spiff (bonus) for writing a FOMOCO loan. I got my $1500 rebate and the next day called Ford Motor Credit and got my account number and payment address. Sent in a check that day and closed the loan.... When the rep on the phone asked why I wanted my account number so soon as it was going to be mailed in my welcome package, I was honest. She laughed and said it made perfect sense and that she would have done the same.
Yes.......Doug is correct. I talked with Ford Finance. The 3 months gives the dealership a commision. I went from crazy with Ford Finance to 2.25 with Navy Federal CU.

I hung a dealer out to dry on that one time. I was buying another company car for my company and shopped at a new dealer as they had it in stock. It was all cash sale for me. The dealer looked at me and said you know we can cut your a real deal if all you are concerned with is payment size. Good grief when he started playing with numbers I was shocked. I ended up buying it a dead dealer cost, some staggering % rate of like 24.x % for like forever...but there was not early payment clause.
Like you I contacted FlyByNight Finance Co at their Holiday Hotel Suite, got the acct number and stroked a check.
Dealer called me about 45 days later and was screaming about how he gave me the deal and I paid off the loan before he got his cut...I just said remember I told you it was a company car and I was willing to pay cash in train riding dollars, right then.
