I saw some mentions of adding an on-board air compressor under the truck. I am looking to build a sort of hybrid air system for under my truck and can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.
Here is what I want to do:
Add an air compressor to fill rear air bags for leveling (she squats a bit when in tow)
I want a wireless remote control for adjusting the air bags (This system exists today)
I also want to add an air tank to fill tires and run a train horn (this is where it's complicated)
Apparently there is no wireless control system that you can run with a separate air tank.
Surely, someone else has figured out how to do this.
You can get a compressor from where you got the air bags. It fills them from 5 lbs to 60 in about 1 minute on my truck. No need for tank in this application. Plus less to go,wrong. Also they do have a remote control compressor. I put ours in back of the rear seat on our crew cab. Being in the rust state they recommend the compressor be inside. Train horn you can get an electric one.
On my '08 I also had the air bags and the compressor that came with the kit, took up very little room. I also had the 3 gallon air tank for tires and such, I liked having these two systems separate, if the main compressor went I still had air for the bags and if the air bag compressor took a dump, I had the main compressor that I could use manually.

That is easy. Hook the wireless bag controller to a solenoid rather than the compressor. Hook up the on board air as usual so it maintains whatever pressure you want in the tank. The solenoid will activate when the bag controller wants more air.
Very nice Scott! Looks like a great place to unwind. I like your awning. I don't care for the newer ones that stand exactly straight out from the camper. They provide little shade and can't be reached without a ladder. Very disappointing to see the newer rigs with awnings that just aren't that easy to use anymore.
