The "ears" that go to the top of the frame, you guys said you moved it back about a inch or so? So the front bolt was now in the rear correct?
And then drilled a new hole correct?
What did you do with the bottom one? I think mine will sit right in the bend of the frame right there if I move it back that far...
Hmm I need to spend some time with the tranny hanging in there and figure this out.
Here's a link to a post in my ZF5 thread. That post is from when I drilled the frame, and it shows the amount the ZF juts up into the cab. But I don't see any pics of exactly where the holes where. However, on the next page there's a shot that shows a bit of it.
As for the # on your crossmember, if you get it I can tell you what transmissions it is supposed to fit.
Dylan, my ears are offset to one side by the bolt hole spacing of the crossmember.
IOW, the ears reach back to the new position of the crossmember when it is set to the ZF.
BUT, Gary and I both have 385 series ZF's.
I think it was Paul that said Windsor versions were longer.
I dint think that'll be too big for my motor if others run it fine on stock set ups
I think Gary is saying it will be too rich for the 300, regardless of how it's jetted. I'm worried that the fuel will be too rich in the middle and too lean on the outside. I like EFI for the inline engines. It eliminates a lot of the problems of a center mount carb. A triple or dual setup would greatly reduce that as well.
And Gary has had some very bad luck with Holley carbs. Could you work a Webber setup? Kind of a non-electronic fuel injection?
